Im looking to buy some probiotics for the breeding season but i have no idea what type to buy.

Morning birds probiotics look decent but im in the uk and would cost a bomb to ship to me.

Will other pet probiotics do? Should it be a multi strain?

HI! Just out of sheer curiosity, why do you want to give your breeding pairs probiotics??? PURE joghurt, non-sweetened, all natural will do the same if mixed under the food and IF your birds eat it. ;)

JerseyWendy's right about plain yogurt being better than commercial products. Food grade yogurt has fresh bacteria, while any commercial product has been sitting around for much longer than the shelf-life of plain yogurt in your local food store.....plus, fresh yogurt is readily eaten by all of my birds.....don't know if that can be said about something you may never really know the efficacy of.

While most of the data & studies on probiotics were compiled done on poultry flocks, what little has been done relevant to psittacine birds suggests that any probiotics administered, should be formulated for psittacine birds, rather than other bird species.

A natural probiotic is found in yogurt…..

Thanks for replying and posting the links!

I have been down the yogurt route before.

I do breed finches and some of them are VERY fussy. I have hecks grass finches that i have a very hard time to tempt to eat egg food (home made and emp), yogurt, sprouted/soaked seed, live food, dried mealworms, greens or fruits.

I think the only thing they will eat is rocket leaf and mint. And this is when they are breeding and laying eggs. >.<

I am planning on introducing the probiotics as a pick me up and then spirulina to replace that when i think they have improved.

Its a constant battle to get them to eat anything but millet.

Have never had passeriformes, so can't offer anything else.....sorry.....
