Pretty upsetting

I would be VERY upset about that im soo sorry:( i hope it all works out!

Canadian contract law is based in the UK common law system..... A very simple breakdown :
You provided labour (a legal detriment) in return for a promise. This is good consideration for an oral contract. If there is an offer, an acceptance and consideration then you have a binding contract. You may have a problem as you need to prove the intention to create legal relations.
You may also bring an action in Equity, called Promissory Estoppel, which is where a promise is made to you, and that promise caused the promisee (you) to act in a certain way in good faith and anticipation of that promise being fulfilled, and the promisor allows you to act in that way and doesnt disabuse you that they have no intention of fulfilling that promise (unconsciounable conduct), the courts may enforce the promise as binding and prevent the promisor from exercising their legal right to your detriment.

This may not be of any help to you, and there will be some differences in the canadian system. It might be too much hassle - Civil law is very expensive. I must admit, when I read your earlier posts about the greenwing I was really hoping it would work out, but my cynical law brain thought it may fall through.
People can be really MEAN.
You must be devastated, and for that I am sorry. What a horrible old man using you like that

Thanks, I honestly thought it was too good to be true at first but he kept telling me that I was for sure getting him. I don't know if I will end up doing the civil court thing but thanks for all the info. I am still going to look into it though.

I'm trying to think positive ,now I'm just going to look forward to having a macaw in my home in the future. Maybe the breeder route is for me now.
