Ok, so something I'm not used to is Chili pooping whenever and wherever. I know it's not fair to compare- but Jackie was somewhat potty trained and would hold it until he got back to the cage, play gym or such. Chili just poops as he goes lol I've potty trained dogs and cats but how do you potty train a bird??

We tell Merlin to 'do poo!' when we want him to go somewhere.

He is not by any means potty trained, but if we think he's holding it in (morning poops in particular) then we do that and it encourages him to go. So I imagine the same thing would work if you stick to it. :)

Potty training a bird is actually so simple

Thanks Ant!! It seems fairly easy and Chili seems fairly intelligent lol so we'll give it a try starting today! I just need to figure out where I want him to potty...

I'm not used to following a bird around cleaning up with wet wipes and then of course he tries to play with the wipe as I'm cleaning lol silly Chili!! :P

Jackie would hold it ALL NIGHT and drop MASSIVE bombs in the morning lol he always wanted me to pick him up first thing but I'd say "no way! Not until you go poop!!!" and he'd look at me like hmph!!! fine.... *SPLATTTT!!* then he'd get verbal rewards followed by getting picked up.

Just makes sense when using a potty. Instead if a bird pooping on the newspaper why not the potty instead.

Preserver with the potty, make sure you place the bird on it say every 15 minutes. Birds are intelligent little creatures and will soon latch on.

Please keep us update.
