potty training

I just got Pyro on Friday. I've been working with him to learn to poop in his cage, but that seems like the last place he wants to poop. I keep his cage door open about 80% of his awake time. I only close it if I leave the house or need to focus on something else. He seems to spend a lot of time eating and sleeping. He comes out frequently, but every time he flies to me, he poops within 2 seconds or on the flight over to me. So I feel like I am rejecting him by putting him right back in his cage after he poops. Not sure what I should do since we are still bonding with each other and building trust. Should I wait until that bond is there to try and poopie train him?

Rather leave the potty training for later, and continue bonding with him.
Bonding is more important than potty training at the moment.

Yeah I was kind of thinking along those lines. I have put potty training off for a while. I figure he's still so young and not even weaned off formula. I might think about it again when he is off the formula. He has mastered the step-up command so that's pretty good.

took me 6 months to train kahlua but i would hold her over the garbage can when i knew he was going to go to the bathroom and i would say " GO POOP" eventually he would say " GO POOP GO POOP" in his little grunting voice and i would know it was time!
