Since there is an ongoing interest in poopology, I thought I'd put together a book/PDF/File of images/pictures of parrot poop, but I am severely limited in my collection of pics, so figured that the member here might be interested in helping.....

If you think it's a worthwhile project and have some pics to include, PM me with your E-mail address & I'll send mine so we don't upset our moderators & ownersby flooding the threads with space gobbling pics.....

I've already made some pics & other poop information available for those interested, to download from a free site, so there'd be no imposition on the forum"s resources and interested members could obtain updated versions at their convenience.

Is it worth the efforts? There's currently nothing like it available on the internet.....

Initial thoughts are to take individual pics by laying either a sheet of copy paper or piece of clean white paper towel on a cage bottom, counter, table or other suitable surface & allow the bird to provide a sample or samples.....would need a description of the specie that produced the pic, it's diet during production, the bird's name, your name (if you want to be recognized as the bird's owner along with any specific notations, as to bird's condition, whether it was sick/ill; on medication; had been examined by a veterinarian, etc.

Isn't it interesting how poop can be such an in-depth topic?? Lol

Btw- if members use a photo-hosting site (such as photobucket) and copied/pasted the image links into their post here it wouldn't infringe on the members' PF photo album storage limit. :)

I hope people with birds who have health issues contribute. It would be very helpful indeed to have such a resource. Fortunately for the birds (but unfortunately for this topic) the birds around here all seem to be rather healthy though.

So healthy birds poop is ok? The morning poop is always delivered on a white paper towel before he comes out. It's freakish.

Actually I was thinking of both, poop from healthy birds and poop from sick birds, because even healthy poop can look odd sometimes, so I'm interested in anything anyone wants to offer.....

I realize a lot of us have holiday things on our mind, but some 75 of us have purused this thread, 3 have commented on it as it's purpose having potential and 4 have indicated thanks for various of the posts/replies.....BUT.....no poop pictures and/or commentary/text have been forthcoming ! ! !

Figuring that those who commented/posted thanks could probably provide 2-6 pics of the different poops generated by their flocks, added to at least 1 or two from those who just trolled by & looked in, I should have seen some 80+ pics of glorious parrot poop in the past day or two, but have only seen just so much lip service.....

Oh well.....

I wouldl love to contribute. I am currently away and my mum is babysitting but when I am back tomorrow I can email you some samples from an alex.

Perhaps people simply need a little more time? I'm just now seeing this and am super keen to help out however I can and also to see the results. However, it is going to take me more than 24 hours to get that you're asking for. I do have some poop pictures, but none of them meet your "white paper" criteria nor can I be sure that I can describe the conditions of my birds on those specific days.

So, 48 hours or so from now I should be able to provide some pics of Macaw and Zon poop, both on ronidazole and one definitely diagnosed with giardia. A week from now, I'll follow up with post treatment poop as a comparison.

I do have to say, that I was looking for this very thing when I first started noticing funky poops in my girl. So, I think what you're offering will really be invaluable for those of us who haven't been "bird people" for decades or without a hugely diverse flock.

Oh keep your bloomers on Weco! It's the holidays and I for one don't have much if any leisure time for social media. More will be forthcoming, here's the first. A morning poop, quarter sized. GCC (healthy)

Unfortunately, the cage has been cleaned this morning, but I'm sure Kiwi will be happy to make a large contribution for you overnight tonight. As Kalidisa said, it's the holidays. Taking pictures of Kiwi's poops are of low priority to other things I've been doing. Keep in mind you're getting all these photos and information for your research for free, so have patience. It's not like parrot poop is some kind of rarity! Natures feathered poop factories churn it out day and night!

Thanks K, your's is the first image donation, but am not sure being first as a poop picture provider is a notable distinction or not, but the image, I'm assuming is from Kumar and it's consistency is/was that of a thick pudding?

Zilla starts her (hopefully) final round of Sporanox on Christmas day so I will give it a day or two and get you a pic of her poop on those meds for asper.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply this was a time constrained project, was really just bored, so thought implying an impatience would get some type of active response, which it did!

And though it might seem picky, the "white paper" consideration was to get the best images...trying to define poop on newspaper or marble counter tops can be difficult at best ! ! !

So, your macaw & zon offerings will be gladly accepted whenever you find it convenient to offer them.....

Thanks KB, It's hard to miss an awareness of the holiday activities many are currently tied up with, as I clearly noted in one of my posts on the 20th. I also understand priorities and agree that collecting bird poop images would be a low priority for me too, as a routine, but on the 19th you posted a reply of : "It would be very helpful indeed to have such a resource." speaking of my proposed compilation of parrot poop pics. If I might, I'd like to address your proffered assumption that there might be some financial or other type of gain available from putting together these or any pictures, I'd be happy to give you representation authority to rep/market any compilation that might be forthcoming, if you are interested in further discussion on the matter. My interest started out as compiling a useful resource for forum members, but if you are aware of any potential commercial interest in such a compilation, I would be interested in looking at your information, but for the members here, my intention were & still are that if I can put something credible together, to make that compilation available to the membership gratis as a PDF.

Also, KB, I'd like to address your comment of the 20th, where you stated: "Fortunately for the birds (but unfortunately for this topic) the birds around here all seem to be rather healthy though."

The topic was created to compile something members of these forums could refer to/look at when they might have a question/concern of the way their bird's discharge/poop may appear. As I'm sure you are aware, a lot of newbies read here and on other forums that this kind of discharge or that type of discharge means such and such, but with no image to compare a poster's text description to, some will impatiently wait and worry by their computer until someone answers their question(s), some even going without sleep ! ! !

Although we like to think we all are capable of caring for and providing for our feathered charges, the reality is that is not always the case and if a member has a resource that might show a visual indication of the potential seriousness of a bird's condition and be the impetus for a given bird to receive proper veterinary care, then it's worthy.....

I have some bubbly poop for you. It's on newspaper but we are prepping for a vet visit so it's the best I can get....I'll try for a white background but it is the least of my worries XD

Here you go! If anyone doesn't know: bubbles in poop are a pretty good indication of infection!

It is if it's consistently foamy, but sometimes you'll see some bubbles in normal poop too.

A very special holiday 'gift' from Kiwi for you! Healthy male amazon after eating his breakfast of chop, grains and orange:
