please help

Also MikeyTN, I don't always read every post made on here, and have probably repeated a question. It happens.

That's not an issue, when you do it twice with two birds then there's a problem. If you don't know a whole lot about birds, I would not suggest in two birds that needs training at the sametime. I have read her other post so that's the reason why.

Seriously though, things I know are self taught. I've raised rabbits, fish, birds and I've had dogs, mice, bugs, saltwater reef tank and cats. I don't go make the same mistake twice nor I post what should I do. I learn from my mistakes and if its life threatening I bring them to the attention of my vet. My vet clinic backs down when I get mad cause I never get mad through the years I've been there and they know I bring all my pets there and my friends and family. They treat me with respect and apologize when they make a mistake. Free service when they really did something bad, they did that once and the owner came out to apologize to me in person. That's why I keep going back.

Perhaps a sticky of what to do with a bitting bird??? maybe one on bird behavioral problems. Got to remember to not every case is going to be the same, I do think the poster has gotten in over her head however as bird lovers on a forum made for birds I personally feel responsible to help those that ask for it as much as I can. I have been around birds a great deal however these two cockatoos are good at puzzling me.

It's NOT that I don't want to help, but when the same mistake is being made twice, there's a problem!!!! Then she goes off to start a new thread trying to sell this very bird cause she can't deal with it. Help have been given to her prior, videos been posted several times for target training. Things have been suggested to her several times. To me, she is not listening!!!! I feel bad for the birds.....They can be trained, just depends on the person IF they're willing to go to the next step instead of wanting to get a perfectly model citizen to begin with. If that was the case, she should buy from a reputable breeder. BUT even with a model citizen, when it comes time during hormone season, things can happen, without wanting to take care of the issue in the first place in prior birds, this perfect model citizen can develop bad habits and the bird gets re-homed all over again. It's a vicious cycle that's got to end. Hence the reason why I said birds may not be for her in the other thread. IF you really love birds, you need to learn their body language, learn how they behave, train them properly, proper diet, etc etc. IF you can't deal with any of those, then it's probably not for you.

It's ok to be newbie like Jeremy have stated! With today's internet, you can research anything and everything. It just depends if your willing! Sometimes you just need to stop asking and start researching. The questions being asked have been asked MANY times through my many years of bird ownership. I can type in biting birds in google search, there's a TON of information being posted out there!

Sure people can help on here, but without being there, we don't know exactly what is going on with the bird. We can give limited help so it is UP to the owner of the bird to take the next step.

I have helped many newbies on here and through my e-mail to my phone as I have given my e-mail out to those that needs it in prvt message. There's many of them that can contest to that part. Plus the prvt messages on here gets sent to my phone as well and I help with what I can from what they're telling me. But those folks have one problem bird they're dealing with at one time, not multiple! I get phone calls all the time with people asking me questions about what to do with their dogs, cats, birds, fish, fixing stuffs, etc etc....I own all those animals for a long time and I do my own remodeling. So I love to help. When I'm not willing, it's when I see there's a problem...

I couldn't agree with you both Mike and Jeremy.
Perhaps we could offer more info to Lynn if she makes a video of the behavior and post it so we can see what she is doing wrong and what she is doing at the time the bird is misbehaving. I always say a picture is worth a thousand words.
I'm not sure of Lynn's backround with birds but it all comes back to common sense.
perhaps Lynn can go to a bird club in her area and take the bird with her so folks can see first hand how the bird reacts to her and make suggesting to her on how to better bond with her bird and how to handle them. Best of luck to all Joe
