I've never heard of a Haris Macaw - I'm no macaw expert, but I'm pretty sure this is neither a species nor an alternate name for any bird.

What is far more likely is that the people who did the test took the 'order' over the phone and heard 'haris' when told 'hahns'. Was this through your vet? I'd check with them. Certainly the people who run the DNA test are not parrot people, they are genetics people - but if they are in the business of testing birds they should know the species! Does lend a little doubt to the whole thing.

But like I said, follow up with your vet or whoever you went through to get the test.

I would make the person that did the blood sample aware of the most likely error and demand another test because there could be confusion with the results.

it wasnt a blood test it was feathers

Have you had any response yet regarding this? I would say haris is a miss reading of someone's handwriting ("ri" mistook for an "n" or a typo) no such thing as a haris macaw.

A bit of an older thread, but I'm kind of curious myself whether there was a resolution,I like some others on this forum use avian biotech,to find an answer to questions like that just take a toll free phone call............:)
