Today is our 10th day with Sunny and oh what a joy he's been! Today is also the first day he decided to take a good bath under the kitchen sink faucet while I was trying to wash dishes.
I couldn't resist the pictures he was soo spikey with all his feathers wet!
He has settled in with us so well, it's like he's been with us since a hatchling! He will be 3 on May 1st.
He's letting me give him scritches all around his head and neck and under his wings. He's just starting to molt as he's getting pins.
He's social with anyone who comes over, he flies right to them and "hangs out" He loves to burrow into our shirts...that can be a painful experience when he's trying to climb in at the neck and scratching and clawing in the process, so we've resorted to wearing 2 shirts, that way he can burrow between them and spare our neck and chest the scratches.
And boy does he have a healthy appetite!
I expected a lot of screaming and flock calling through this adjustment period...but he's been really REALLY good! He does a lot of "duck grunts" when he's out and about and sitting on my shoulder. He only screams when he's startled, scared, or see's my son coming home from the neighbors...and he stops as soon as he hears the door open.
Working on filling his new cage...it's a BIG one...as the one he came with is just tooo small. It's working for now, but I'll probably move him into his new cage this weekend.
Hope you all enjoy the pic's!
Toni
