Ozzie - alexandrine parakeet
Today after I went to the vet to get Ozzie's nail trimmed, also get a health check, I decided to take him to the pet stop where I got him from. He seems to be very happy to see all the other parrots again! Ozzie had a wonderful day! :)

Here are a few photos I took of the birds there

What's wrong with petco? Sorry I live in Australia, we don't have petco here, so I don't know what happens to the conures and tiels.

The only down side I can think about that pet store where I got Ozzie from right now is that they don't have a lot of toys in the cage for the birds to play, other than that, the pet shop is very good

Yeah, Ozzie had fun hanging out with other alexandrines, although Ozzie have better colour and feather than the other alexandrines, the others were still very healthy, so I let him play with them! :) They had a wonderful time! :green2:

Aww look at all those great birds just waiting for a home! The one petco near me only has one small bird. I don't know what kind it is.

awesome birds there!! I hate petstores like petco and petsmart so terrible how uneducated they are on parrots needs :( but i LOVE petstores like birdville and aviarium where I live they are just for birds and take amazing care of their parrots like yours looks like it does!

The birds there are lovely. I just hope I can buy them all! :D

I feel very sorry for that blue and gold macaw there, it has been in that pet store for almost 1 year :( Still waiting for a home...

And those are only about 1/4 of hand raised birds in the photos. The pet shop carries other hand raised parrots like budgies, conures, cockatiels, alexandrines, blue and gold macaws, cockatoos, etc. They also sell aviary birds, like finches, chickens, cockatoos, cockatiels, conures, lories, Indian ringneck, alexandrines, lovebirds and a lot more! The pet shop have more than 1,000 birds on display! That's a lot!

Those are awesome photos! :D
And that is a lot of birds. You can get handreared cockatiels/IRN's sometimes at our local pet shop. IRN's are quite rare to see still. We have about maybe 15-20 birds for sale it mine.

I bet that macaw costs a lot? o: He/she is just beautiful!

It's a giant pet store chain all over the U.S. they are knowlagable about dogs and cats but literally torture birds. Feed them bad quality seeds and millet. Sick birds everywhere

Giant pet store chain that sells sick birds...that's so sad :( People thinks that pet shop sells healthy pets, but I've also seems some bad pet store here that sells unhealthy birds, all seed diet, poor feathers and badly cared for :(

Thanks

IRN and Alexandrine are actually very popular pets here at Australia. I've seen them almost in every bird store I've been to!

Yep, the blue and gold macaw in the first photo is $10,000! Cost too much for me :(

Wow $10,000 o:
Omg that is a lot. IRN's are becoming very popular pets these days. You see them on online classifieds all the time. But in our pet shops all you really see is cockatiels, budgies, burkes, red rumps and sometimes lovebirds. Oh yea there are finches. :p

I know, that's a lot! I wonder what would my mum say when I tell her I want a $10,000 bird! Lol :D

Yeah, Indian ringneck are now very popular! I don't remember seeing them every where a few years ago! I think it's this 3 years that they have been very popular among pet parrots. Probably becuase they are small and easy to take care of, also they are in the top ten talking parrot. I think that's why they have been a big favourite in some parrot lover/owner.

That's true :D
I can see IRN's being extremely popular pets. They did use to sell them in pet shops. And when I walk down the road(different streets) I can always here ringnecks in the background. So I guess some people have them :p
The price of them are also dropping, I think that you can get a hand reared one for like $130 now. It use to be $500 and that was a couple of years ago o:

$130?! That's cheap! The pet shop around me sells the normal colour (green, yellow, blue, etc) between $150-$200! And the last time I been to one of the pet shops, I saw a white one that was $500!

Greens are usually cheaper :p
I think blue is usually about $150. I have seen a grey selling for $200 but that was because he was DNA'd male. Breeders Usually sell a hand reared IRN for about $100+.
I have started to see that alexandrines are dropping on price to (only seen breeders sell them in my town) They were like $800 and now they are about $300-$400.

Also african greys have dropped down. (Only breeders sell them, I think one pet shop does but that is in a different town). They were $5000 like 2 years ago, last year they were about $3500 and now I'm seeing them sell for $2500. So maybe I will be able to get my dream bird :D

I know parent reared green checks (which only breeders sell) cost like $800+ and I think that is just for one! o:

I have even see breeders sell normal green parent reared IRN's for $30! o: And that is this seasons babies.
Soon they are going to be the price of a cockatiel.

Aw! What cute birds! I have a great bird store near me, so many sweet parrots!

And for people that say petcos and petsmarts are awful, I agree that most are but there are some nice ones, the one near me actually hand raises their bigger birds.

Wow, that is a big price difference! I got Ozzie for $900! The Alex near you are cheap!

And my mum is thinking about getting a African grey! I have never thought that she would ever like a grey becuase they are pretty big parrots! But funny enough, she does! She have heard how they are the best talkers and how they are very smart, etc.

She is contacting the pet shop I got Ozzie from, which is one on this thread! Mum's asking for a price, she said if its below $5000, she will think about it! :)

Wow you are so lucky!. I am going to start saving for an african grey, I do hope the price drops a bit as they seem to be becoming a bit more popular. There are a few breeders selling them these days! : D

Alex cost me $100. I think he was parent raised and his old owner just wanted to get rid of him :(
Yuki cost me about $190. She was parent raised. Her breeder did handle her a bit from time to time. She does handle them when they are babies but she said it's more natural that the parents should raise them. So that they wont get confused about who and what they are when they get older. Well that's what she said to me :p She was also DNA'd
