Been busy, but I thought I would give an update on how Phoenix is progressing. He is in a short time doing much better. He hasn't really bit hard for a couple weeks now. We had family from South Carolina in, and he would step up on my wife's uncles arm without being aggressive even though that was the first time he met him. He stpes up for both my sons though at times he does give a small pinch. Which is huge progress over the past couple weeks. He is my wife's couch buddy now. If she sits on the couch he goes to great lengths to get to her including some incredible acrobatics if he can not easily reach her on the couch. He can get kind of ruff with Lucy, and that has been the majority of his time outs and a couple times getting too ruff. Our breeder friend, and his store manager are shocked at how well he is doing that fast. He is not as good of a snuggler as Lucy, but we will get there. His colors are also really starting to come out, and his feathers get light, and soft again. He had his first mist bath a week and a half ago with Lucy right next to him. He got made at the bottle, and would bite at it as Lucy would be beating him in the head with her wings dancing and spinning around to keep getting misted. The second time wasn't so bad, and he would watch Lucy to see how he should react, and ended up enjoying it. Then we gave him a real bath in the shower a couple days later which he really did seem to enjoy. He has had another misting bath since then, and now really seems to enjoy them. We are still adjusting to the morning, and evening flock calls that you can seriously hear a block away when our windows are closed lol. He only does it if he is in the window, or can see out a window the morning sun or the evening sun set. It usually last about an hour. All in all he is doing very well now. Oh and we had his band cut off his leg.

Good to hear that he is behaving well. Hope he'll keep doing progress!

What a fantastic update!!! :D

I was visualizing his acrobatics, trying to get to your wife, that is just TOO cute!!

He's come a LONG LONG way in a relatively very short amount of time. You all are doing GREAT with him! :)

I also laughed at your description of LUcy smacking him in the face while enjoying her spray bath, lol.

I wish you much continued success with gorgeous Phoenix. :)

Glad things are progressing. :) What happened to the legband?

I had it taken off. I don't like the leg bands. It has always concerned me with it getting caught on something, and them getting hurt. Which I have heard has happened from time to time.

I wanted to give an update on how our boy is doing. It is shocking how well he is doing in such a short time. I went to our breeder's store a couple days ago so my wife could see her baby Goffin we are getting. I was standing talking to him, and telling him about Phoenix, and how he is doing. He looked up at me, and said "I knew you were dead on for that bird.". It made me feel good that he knew I'd be the perfect home for him.

We babysat (actually my wife lol) our 2 year old nephew all last weekend. Phoenix, and Lucy were out, I was in the kitchen, and my wife was on the other side of the couch. Our nephew walks up to the perch they're both on with a feather in his hand reaching up to Phoenix, and Lucy with it. We both made a mad dash for the perch then stopped dead in our tracks. Phoenix real gentle took the feather from him then dropped it. Our nephew looked under the perch, and started picking up pieces of toys he shredded. He would take a piece out of his hand, chew on it for a second, then drop it, and watch him pick it up. Phoenix actually started hanging upside down off the perch to take toy piece from him. This went on for several minutes.

He is still nipping our boys, but he will step up, let them walk around with them, and sometimes actually lean up against their chest when they're carrying him. Talking with our breeder's son we are wondering if it is more love nips because you'll be petting him, and he'll nip then want you to go back to rubbing him, and he fluffs back up. He is getting a bit protective of Lucy so they get 30 minutes together a day then are on separate perches the rest of the day. He doesn't like when we leave to go somewhere he will scream until he can't see us out the window, and then will start screaming as soon as he hears the car or sees it pass our big front windows.

Phoenix's new perch he found, and the new toy he found about the perch lol.
