I decided to introduce Pete to the blow dryer today to see what would happen. He was only mildly concerned at first when he saw it and I turned it on. But, within a minute he realized, hey, I really like this! However, he has a habit of wanting to stick his beak into anything new that he likes and I was afraid of him being burnt shoving his beak into the nozzle. So I had to put him back into his cage to do it. He still tried to get his beak in there, but couldn't with the bars, thankfully! When I mist him with the spray bottle, he puts his beak around the nozzle of that too and wants me to dribble it so he can drink it, lol!

He's been making little happy cooing noises ever since he got blow dried. He is very happy! I'm very proud of him. My Nanday was screeching like I was killing him with it though. I tried to introduce her to it as well, but she wanted nothing to do with it. I guess that's ok. She is impeccable about her personal grooming and takes care of herself just fine. Sometimes she even takes a second bath after I change her water from the first one.

I was thinking on days that the wood burning stove isn't running, the blow dryer would be a good idea. When the stove it's on it's very warm and dry in here. But, we hit 40F today and my house uses very little propane heat on a day like that. And I always want at least a cord of wood around for emergencies like the 3 day power outage in horrible cold weather we had 3 years ago.

Rowdy complains about anything new coming into her room that isn't bird related, lol! She definitely knows what toys are and is never frightened of a new toy. In fact she begs and sometimes says, "Gimme!" She isn't afraid of new parrot gyms or cages. But, a blow dryer, well, now that should not be in "her" room, lol! She complained about the new TV coming in until she realized it was a TV and better than the one she had before it. But, anything she doesn't want, she lets me know.

Look around - many blowdriers came with attachments, like a "diffuser" for curly hair that basically would effectively keep him from getting his beak too far in so it gets burnt. It might be worth it, especially as he enjoys it so much!

Animals are funny, my rabbit was convinced that anything that made any breeze was absolutely going to eat her alive, so even fans and the A/C were shunned, no matter how hot it got! And so when we had to bathe her (didn't happen very often, thank goodness, we tried the blow drier because we figured she hated being wet so much she might tolerate it, but nothing doin'! She practically tried to tunnel through me to escape that horrible monster. Sigh!

Thanks, an attachment would really be a good idea!

Rowdy is just super territorial. If it's not for the enjoyment and amusement of a bird, I shouldn't bring it in here, lol! For 12 years she's been screaming like a banshee every time I clean. She will yell at me if I walk past her with a screwdriver in my hand, lol! She owns this room, not me.

My cat owns the kitchen. She keeps all of her cat toys in there at all times. It's also where her kitty cubes and kitty tent are. And her food, water fountain and litter box.

I'm not sure what I own, lol! I just make the mortgage payment, keep the heat and power on, and clean it all up.

That is so cute! I wish Kazi liked the blow dryer, but he moves away from it. The funniest thing is watching him watch me use the hair dryer on myself. He behaves like it's attacking me and he has to scare it off. I have to keep reassuring him that I'm fine.

I blow dried Puck for the first time a week or two ago. He tolerated it, because he was cold and wet after his shower, but I don't think he liked it much.

Oh he definitely liked it. He would even hold up his wings so I could dry under them, and would turn around so I could do his back.

Rowdy, my conure, was convinced I was using it to hurt him or something though. And it does sound similar to the vacuum cleaner, which she also hates.
