Hello everyone,

I had posted in May about my two pet African Grey Timnehs. They had laid 4 eggs and after 37 days of faithfully sitting on the eggs I removed them. They were all infertile.
I felt sorry for my birds because they were so devoted and would not leave the nest.
I left the breeding box up and two months later Pepper laid 3 eggs.
To my surprise I heard a chirping noise 6 days ago and checked the nestbox. Sure enough my birds had a baby. Three days ago the second baby hatched and I am expecting the third baby to hatch today.
My parrot parents are doing a wonderful job, I could not be happier. They are awesome!
Here is a little video I took today!

Hi suebee,

yes, Pepper is very sweet and will let me look in the nest as much as I like. Slinky however, the male would rip me to shreds but he is only doing his job!
I know they are hard to make out. The little white fuzzballs by the egg are the two babies. One to the left is the second baby (3 days old) and the one to the right is the first born (6 days). If you look closely that one keeps picking up its head. Below both is the egg and potentially baby #3. I keep my fingers crossed. It would be a Labor Day Baby!

aww just keep posting up dates, :)

and fingers crossed for labour day

Thank you Pookamama,

I was able to take a quick picture of the babies while the mom was out of the cage, which is super rare!

Hi ConureCrazy,

yes, those little fuzz balls are so adorable. Good news, the last fuzz ball hatched late last night.

Thanks UrbanLegend711. The little birdies are getting louder by the minute. Last night they woke me up because they were begging for food. Mom and Dad are doing a great job. I see Pepper still flipping the baby over to feed it (even with the 7 day old). Fascinating to observe.
Also, thank you for taking in Baby.
Sounds you have been making incredible progress in such a short time.
We don't live far from each other (I am from Collegeville, PA).

Just another update. I decided to co-parent the babies and today was my first time touching all three babies. They are now 9, 6 and 3 days old. I took Pepper out of the nestbox and placed her on the cage. I briefly touched all three babies and then picked Pepper up and placed her right next to her babies. The entire time she was relaxed and did not feel threatened.

denise3mom,

congratulations! That is so exciting news! Would that be the first time they laid eggs?
Mine laid their first time in June (4 eggs) and they were all infertile. Now a couple months later I have 3 babies, it is truely amazing. I have learned so much by just watching the parents do their job. I cannot wait to see their eyes open!
The best of luck to you and your pairs. Are you going to candle the eggs to check for fertility?
My cage for the babies arrived today. I odered a Kings Cage Aluminum and I have to say it is a nice looking cage. It will even look nicer with three baby greys in it.

Another cute video I took today. The babies are doing really well. Pepper and Slinky are getting busy feeding the little guys who are getting stronger every day.

I had read somewhere that once a Grey Breeds it does not make a good companion pet anymore. From the story here, that would look to be false. Can anyone debunk this rumor I have read? Was just curious.
