Penny is sick, I've been holding back making a thread

Oh man!! This is the worst and best thread- itā€™s very informative and appreciate the time your taking to take us on your journey. But every time I open it I get so much relief from your positive updates then Iā€™m back holding my breath! I can imagine what you are going through! You and your flock are in my thoughts and prayers! Come on speedy bump free recoveries!!!

Dearly hope Pikachu's situation is one half-step backward followed by two leaps forward. Optimistically checking back in the morning!

Pikachu upto 118!!!! Was 115 before getting sick , his lowest was 105 at his sickest
He only has intermittent swelling and draining....I wish he was past that, but we have lots if days to go in the doxycycline so hopefully he will fully kick this things butt!!

Penny 113!!!!! Before 100 w a normal lowest was 94 ( but think she had a chronic infection before unknown to me
Tadah 82, normal 74, lowest 65 at sickest

They still have a seed mix with sunflower seeds in it, normal I never feed sunflower seeds at all,

I got my covid vaccine!!! Tomorrow I get IVIG, I so need it. Edit: having strong side effects, but normal, but will have to cancel tomorrow...bummed

I've started sprouting! For me and the parrots. Just had the first seeds stick out the first start of sprouts. I offered everybody 1, only Orbit ate 1. They aren't really ready yet but I'm excited!!

Ended up being the best thing to cancel ivig as they made a mistake, now corrected I will be in Every day next week for loading iv infusion dose of immunogloblins...then 2 x a month .

I'm Making my birdies fat!!! Lol , really they are all ok. I even think k Penny needs to gain more...hindsight is always clearer vision.

I'm drinking Laura's Tea, it's hot water , then add honey, a slice each of orange , lemon, and lime. Helps with nauseous, headache, very restorative, as no actual tea. I hope you all will give it a try when you feel awful, but need to keep drinking fluids.

Poor parrots I just thawed and dumped some veggies.

Doxycycline continues until they finish 45 days.. its on my calendar

Adding Pikachu, he has one foot on each coil as he climbs. He was headed for a yucca chip to chew. A lot of times I cut up my toys or chew stuff so I can spread it around the house like Easter eggs, to be found

I fed sprouts first time!! Finally brave enough, and educated by you all !!

Orbit tore into them!!! Everybody else needed repeated offerings by hands and seeing me eating them. By end if the day every single burd was eating sprouts!! Yummy!!

So thank you all for being pro sprouts, and opening me up to this great food!

Doxycycline continues on......and on....snd on...but everyone seems good....

Hi Laurasea. Could it be possible that Penny is about to lay an egg! Birds do huge poops when about to lay, and when laying. Don't normally get all fluffed up though, so something is going on. I wish you all the very best.

Hi LynnB!! Thanks for stopping in!!

This all started in December. I pulled Penny through, but it was a real close call...I had to hand feed her baby bird formula every 2 and half hours during daylight, for 10 days ( as she had stopped eating anything, and very debilitated) !! Plus her antibiotics, and heat panel....she fully recovered then relapse

Penny, was very sick in December with a sinus infection from we think chlamydia. I almost lost her, she critically ill. A week later the rest of the flock got sick. All were given 21 days or longer azithromyacin.

10 days after stopping medicine they all got sick again. So they are on a 45 day round of doxycycline. They have been on it about 10 days already. And all seem to be doing well, except swelling around Pikachu eye, abd some intermittent draining from nostril.

So the thread is kinda in a holding pattern. I'm going to keep posting until they are all finished with medication and well.

My GCC gained back a lot if wright and I keep thinking she could be making eggs.....

Penny my quaker gained 13 grams over her previous normal weight. But in hindsight, she probably had a chronic unknown infection. And her normal was lower than should be. She always felt thin, but I put it down to under development of pectoral muscles from not being allowed to fly before me. At 113 she still feels a little thin.. can definitely stand to gain more. Penny is now stronger than ever before, can fly better, and longer. Maybe she was the chronic chlamydia girl....but it fits better that The rescue budgie Blue Boy picked up wild bird chlamydia and brought that in to my flock.

My vet informed me next week is an important week to do extra extra cleaning..based on how the bacteria works and re-infection

But that's going to be hard as I will be at hospital all day every day..

A big thank you to blood donation people!! As it takes a lot of people to save me!!! And everyone else that needs this treatment
Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) is a blood product prepared from the serum of between 1000 and*15 000 donors*per batch.

So potentially 75,000 people are helping me next week as I get 5 batches!!!!!!! Blessings on all tge angels giving blood!!!! Maybe one of you are helping me!!@ big love!!

Its a good reminder that there are many amazing people in the world!!@ people taking the time to donate their blood/plasma to help strangers!!!!! Just amazing!! Last year there was a shortage... so I couldn't get treatment...when you feel safe , and if you are able maybe you will donate plasma. First time donors can earn $700 at some donation centers, worth checking out if you are interested.

Do the best you can with your cleaning demands and hospital schedule. Nobody could do a better job overall!!

Good point about the need for blood donations! The pool may be smaller than usual due to folks having and surviving Covid infections. Must be some period of time before continued giving.

Ta-dah still 83, maybe I just made her fat..no sign if eggs yet. Poop great niw thst I'm giving yogurt again every few days.

Orbit finally gained weight, he never lost much or seemed very sick, has some sneezing early in and lost 5 grams. He now 95g almost back to his 96 before sick weight. He is getting so confident and snuggles so sweetly. No none stop screaming. From October to now we have come so far. It took longer than I thought, but he is my sweet buddy now. Still fearful of step up if he is at the cage ir in tge cage, elsewhere no issues.

I did a good cleaning today.
Everybody has some cabbage, and sprouts, and hot peppers as their extras today.

My love leaning down for a kiss. Was a spicy hot peppers kiss!! He had just eaten a ghost pepper, thought beak looked clean and safe but it sure stung!

And begging for a head rub...such a sweetheart. Hang in there if it is taking time to earn trust!! It took a couple of months for us to click.

Another positive day in the books! YAY!!!

Ghost pepper kisses? Ouch! Tucker caught me off guard a few weeks ago with a wet beak jalapeƱo kiss. My lips were burning before I realized what was happening. But ghost peppers? OMG, I can't imagine that slopped on my face. Eeeek!

Orbit sure has come a long way, Laura, and his plumage looks great! No way he was ever going to be able to resist our resident quaker-whisperer for long :)

thank you. His fear of hands was so deep...it truly took a long long time to get him past that, much longer than I ever dreamed it would. And if you remember that screaming....wow...I begged for help and ideas.. but it just took time, and keeping him busy

Base on your foundation photos, one would believe that your documents are guided by a Parrot, while a horse enjoys a cooling moment for you! :D

So very happy that things continue to move in a favorable direction!
