Ok so I've done a forum search but still can't figure it out... Some places list peanuts as unsafe for birds (I will be getting a GCC) and others list them as treats to be given as rewards! I'm confused?!? Can I feed my conure peanuts or are they best avoided?

Peanuts are safe for birds as long as they are not salted / in shells.

Peanuts in shells either roasted or raw should be avoided as mold normally grows on the outside of the shell.

There is a variety of nuts that are safe and healthy for all birds

Cashew plain
Hazel
Pecan
Macadamias
Almonds
Monkey Nuts
Pistachios plain

A few of the above can be offered daily, in moderation.
Great for treats when training

Thanks so much! I was wondering if it had to do with the shell!

Peanuts in the shell, raw or pre-roasted, can be made edible by roasting them in a 250 degree oven for about 20 minutes, killing any mold spores that might be found on the shells.....unless the nuts have been in water, mold spores attach to the shells & not the kernels inside.....

Now, in the southern U.S., and maybe other places in the world, there are those who enjoy boiled peanuts, eating shell & all.....always felt those people had less than discerning tastes.....
