Iām one of those crazy neat freaks too that has 4 very messy parrots who donāt care about their adequacy. One day they may change their ways, and not throw food on the walls and floor. Iām holding out hope.Looks a lot like my Peachie. She likes her pellets shaken, stirred and then chucked on the floor!!![]()

So you are an extreme optimist?Iām one of those crazy neat freaks too that has 4 very messy parrots who donāt care about their adequacy. One day they may change their ways, and not throw food on the walls and floor. Iām holding out hope.
I feed my parrots Harrisonās as well. I know it just went up in price here. Shipping isnāt cheap either. Because I have 4 parrots I need to at least get the 5lbs bag. Iāve thought about the 25lbs bag but wasnāt sure about the shelf life. With the cost of things I wouldnāt exactly want to waste that.My viewpoint is more an economical one than a "crazy neat freak" one. Peachie and the 'tiels eat TOPS and Harrison's, which are probably double the price here in Oz as in the States. I know they ingest more than they chuck but sometimes it's like watching dollar signs ending up on the floor!!
My males aside from Nico (heās just different) are rambunctious. They escape cages. They undo all of the clasps that hold their toys to top of their cages just for fun. My female is more hesitant about things, and has a softer personality. She doesnāt just fly out of her cage. She looks around first, and doesnāt stray far away.I have 4 female budgies that share a large cage and someone throws all the food on the floor of the cage without fail every day. The 4 males in an identical cage never do this. Go figure!

Are things more expensive out of the states? Iāve been mentally curious about that.
I canāt find harrisonās here in pets stores either. They just started selling at one of the large pet store chains within the last month. I had to order it online direct with $30 shipping. It was for a 5lbs bag. Iāve debated changing their pellets because of the costs but they all eat it. Some days I donāt feel like arguing with the parrots. They think they are professional food critics. Itās hard to find a good quality pellet especially with some of Nicoās needs. Not only more expensive but sometimes harder to get. TOPS isn't to bad availability-wise, but Harrison's has maybe 3 retailers here who stock it and because it's only made in small batches it sells out pretty quick. I just managed to score another two 1 pound bags this morning though so now I have five stocked up before they sell out again![]()
