Parakeet maybe sick help!!!

Hello,
My budgie (Sky) has been having looser poops compared to before. His poops used to look like dark green/ black lentils with white strips. Now his poops are more watery and lighter for the last two months. First I thought maybe it is because of spinach but when I restricted his diet to seeds and calcium only, nothing changed.
He is one and a half year old, super quiet from the beginning (he only screeched when sun is bothering him and sometimes sings in very low voice to the tap water running). And not much has changed in his behaviour.
I cannot get him to an avian vet so please help me and let me know if this is abnormal...

Where do you live?
This is not normal parakeet poop. I've never seen poop like this in my parakeets even after they chow on veggies.

We have had 2 sick birds die in the last couple of days. The only thing we can truly recommend is a visit to the avian vet specialist. Many veterinarian will do a phone or video consultation due to covid. You can call and see if that's possible.

I will post dome supporting care links. Extra warmth is the number one thing you can do.

Hello and thank you for your response, Laurasea. I live in Montreal but I cannot afford to visit an specialist it costs more than 200$ if I want them to run some tests... I will read the thread that you mentioned thank you!

If you add anything like vitamins to tge water stop. Vitamins can rot in water and quickly make your bird sick, only fresh plain water, and clean dish daily.

We have been cleaning the dishes and cage on a regular basis, and we added no vitamins to the water, there is a calcium stick the pet shop gave us when we bought sky, and he has been scratching his beak against it.
We feed him using normal «premium*»food for parakeets and some well washed spinach and parsley.

According to this chart it may be a liver problem, however it isn’t very similar to sky’s droppings

Yeah I can't find poops like his for comparison... his has lots of fecal matter but no creamy portion, so I also worry about kidney.

Switch to bottle water for tge time being, tap water can be contaminated sometimes

Yiu can buy probiotic and sprinkle over seeds, or offer live acidophilus culture yogurt thst has no artificial sweetners. My budgies will lick this up. That will help with gastric flora, and it can make a big difference.
Zinc toxicity is very common, and I think the cheap budgies toys are suscept. Pitch any metal bells and metal anything. Check you seeds for smell or mold , they can spoil in the bag sometimes

Thanks a lot for your time and responses, Laurasea. Nothing has changed in his diet or toys or cage during the last year, I think the best way is to change water and check the seeds in the bag. I will buy the probiotics too!
About yogurt I am not sure if i can feed him that. He doesn’t like anything new and is the grumpiest budgie ever lol.
I hope he gets better soon...

Yes his poops were dark donuts for the first year. But as his beak started to turn into a dark blue, his droppings changed too.

Your welcome. Male budgies beaks do turn part blue with maturity, and breeding season.

What do you feed him? What does your bird’s beak look like? my Lovebird has Fatty liver disease- I got him this way. He gets sprouted seeds, organic milk thistle, Organic nettle leaf, avian herbs, and dandelion to help him detox. I also add a little apple cider vinegar and chlorophyll (separately) every once in a while to his water. In a squirt bottle I put a few drops of apple cider vinegar and aloe(from a plant) mixed with water and mist him.
