As most of you know i just brought home a baby sun conure:orange::) but i had a question about his nails. He's 7 weeks old and i was wondering is it too early to give his nails a slight trim?? my arms are all tore up! lol i think my mom has a file i was planning on using that if its alright?? just to take that sharp tip away?

Jasmine has a special perch that helps keep her nails down. It's made of concrete. She has also some natural wood perches which do the same. Hope this helps

hes not in a cage yet:) i have one in the cage already but obviously he cant use it yet:) lol

When I took Charlie for his first vet check up around that age the vet had cut his nails for me. He unfortunately had clipped a couple too short and made my Charlie bleed a lil. So I too was thinking of just getting a file to dull the sharp ends.

Like with dogs and cats the quick ends closer to the curve of the nail. A little rounding of the tip won't hurt a bit. Just be careful and don't allow the nail to move around when filing it. Support the toe where the nail and toe meet to prevent causing soreness in the toe. :0)
