Loki - rosefront conure
Is it OK to leave food in the cage overnight? It is my understanding that conures cannot overeat like Amazons. When I read this, I have not been measuring food portions and just put a fresh batch in the cage first thing in the morning.

My birds have food available all the time (pellets at least). No overeating and no risk of 'hungerpains' if something happens and I somehow cannot feed them at the sceduled time.

My Conure likes pellets (hooray). Her vet says it will keep. Squeaky eats almost constantly. Every day or so I throw it out and fresh pellets go in. No problems and I have no plans to start her on messy fresh foods.

I leave mine in overnight (just the dry stuff- wet needs to be changed and bowl washed with soap after a few hours max)--Be aware that parrot food can attract rodents, so if you have mice or rat issues, this could pose an overnight threat to your bird.

I also leave pellets available all the time, fresh food comes out after a few hours.

Yep, me too. I put Levi to bed w/ fresh water & fresh pellets every night. Just in case something happens & I can't get him out on his normal schedule. I won't worry b/c he's all set.

All my birds have pellets overnight for grazing as desired. One of my birds sleeps in my bedroom in an "evening cage." I typically rise with the sun and smile listening to the gentle crunch of pellets!

I also leave dry pellets in all the time (small portions, change when needed) and she gets fruit daily, mostly out of the cage :)

Just make sure you don't ever leave any fresh veggies or fruit in his cage overnight or longer than a few hours really, they'll start to grow bacteria, fungi, and especially mold...

Conures have small stomachs but a large amount of energy. Always have pellets around. and fresh water. They like to piece meal, they aren't humans that wait for breakfast lunch and dinner. They eat when they need it.
