- 4 Cockatiels 2 males Chicken Little & Charlie, 2 Females Chiquita and Sweet pea. Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure -Franklin and our now tame, rescued feral Pigeon - Belle.
So today I was sitting with our Franklin (4 1/2 months old), I think he's starting to molt as he has a bunch of pin feathers coming in.
I was gently scritching around his head and neck and found a cluster of pin feathers, I went to gently pinch the cluster and when I did, it must have been uncomfortable for him and Franklin squawked and landbasted my finger with a pretty stout bite all in one blink of an eye.
I said "Ouch! That's biting!" and do you know what he did???
He let go immediately, looked at me and went back to the same spot he bit me and touched lightly with his beak and kissed it, complete with tongue and kissing sound!
I couldn't believe it...I said..."awww, that's nice, kissing MUCH better, thank you." And we went back to scritching.
I just had to share. He's also starting to talk up a storm in his gruff little voice. He says "Pretty bird" "How are you" What'cha doing" oh..and "Hello"
I'll have to try to get some video of him. For such a young guy he sure is SMART! Love him to pieces!
