About 12 years ago, a bald, plucked Cockatoo, with PBFD, was given to the Broward County Humane Society. Because PBFD is so contagious to other birds, but not humans, dogs & cats, and the BCHS only has dogs & cats. She was expected to live maybe 6 months. She has thrived, and is their mascot, and is not for adoption.
