Ollie goes on vacation to Washington DC! Update with pics!!

Ollie, my husband and I just made the 5 hour journey to Washington DC from New Jersey! Ollie was in his Pack'o'bird and was often on my shoulder during the ride. He would go potty in the Pack'o'bird when asked which he did a great job with. He only threw up a couple of times and I'd just put him in the Pack'o'bird for a while with the curtains closed till he calmed down a bit. Now we are at a hotel that allows birds in DC. We got a suite with a small extra bathroom that has a counter for his travel cage to sit on for a quiet sleeping place. Honestly, the room could not be more perfect. I'm thrilled to have him on vacation and can't wait to put the harness on and go visit the monuments tomorrow! Ollie tried on his harness for the 1st time today before we left and he didn't love it but he was easily distracted of biting it so I think he'll be fine tomorrow.

Update: We took Ollie to Washington and Lincoln Memorial and we were out for 2 hours. He was very good! We made sure to stop many times for potty breaks and such and also water breaks. People came up to us and asked us if he's real...like WTH. Also, people think they can just touch him without asking which is annoying but I'm sure all of you know that. Anyways here are some pics!

How awesome! Hope you all have fun!

How exciting, there is so much to do and see in D.C!

One caution is to be aware of various chemical sprays etc used by hotel maids. So many rooms have sealed windows and eco-friendly a/c units that operate as sparingly as possible!

Right. Good advice! We're going to have lunch and then go for a walk.

His face is so orange...maybe he should venture into politics while he's there....

JK of course - hope you have a GREAT time!

Lol! That's really funny. I totally said the exact same thing to my husband. We're back from the walk around DC... pictures soon.

He's having the time of his life. He's like a celebrity in DC now. People come up to us and take pictures and try to touch him(I explain that I'm his mommy and he'll let me do anything with him but he'll bite strangers which is somewhat true). Everyone at the hotel is in love with him. He is seriously the most well behaved amazing bird anyone could ask to be blessed with on the earth. We're taking another vacation next week and he's coming to that too. We also have a plane trip to Oregon in August that he is joining us. I can't wait to see how he handles it.

Wonderful ,pics are really good. Just a caution, I never put Salty on grass other then ours, most lush looking beautiful grass has had some sort of weed killer and fertilizer applied. Lol, mine looks like hell but I know it's safe for him to wander around on. Ollie harness almost disapears, good color choice.

Good point about the grass, thanks! Luckily he hates being on grass so he was not really on it long but still I'll be more cautious.

Grass *shudders*. I have a terrible phobia of it and avoid walking on it myself, much less put Kiwi in it in a public park or area. Never thought about the pesticides and weed killers, just that every dog in the neighborhood uses it as a toilet (and likely some less than savory humans as well, depending on the park):26:
