Oliver Came Out Of Cage

I leave the cage door open off and on through the day. Yesterday and today Oliver came to the door opening, sometimes climbing on the outside of the cage, but not flying around the room. I think he likes having the option of coming out if he chooses.

Congrats with Oliver! Let explore at his own pace. If you want interaction clicker training is a good place to start.

I just wish Oliver would trust me enough to sit on my shoulder or hand, but we're not there yet. I've had him 5 weeks, and sometimes early in the morning he will let me softly rub his belly a little while he's on his swing, but not after that. One of his toys is a round mirror with a decorative orange plastic frame around it. I call that his "shield" because when he sees that I'm going to open the cage door he runs on his perch and hides behind the mirror. Oh well, as long as he's happy and having fun I'm happy.
