I'm getting out my conure books to try to find out, lol!
Well, the Painted conure and White Eared conure look the closest to that picture, but the bird in the picture had a lot more blue on the wings. It might be a specialized color mutation of one of those, like the turquoise Green Cheeks as compared to the normal Green Cheeks.
Looks like the painted conures I was looking into. except yes, tons more blue. And extra green on the cheek. they are so beautiful with all the different colors. I love the turquoise and the black and white neck. I'm hoping one day to have one. If I don't get the eclectus someone is re homing.
Hi, I'm rusty on calculating colour mutations but I don't see how this can be one as it shows blue, green and yellow. The photo was taken out doors and I would susspect that accounts for the additrion blue accentuation. You can see green almost to the wing tips and 2 to 4 deg off this axis would probably be mostly green. The amount of melinin would also support this guess. D.D.
Crimson Bellies? They are beautiful, too. I admit, at one point I wanted a bunch more conures; a Painted, a Sun and a Patagonian for sure. Must...control...bird...addiction!
Thats what I wanted! The patagonian and painted. Now I want this crimson bellied! I'm thinking birds are like tattoos. Once you get one you want more "color".
2 Budgies, 3 Cockatiels, 6 GCC'S, 2 Crimson Bellie Conures, 9 Sun Conures, 2 Major Mitchells, 12 Eclectus parrots of various ages, 2 BF Amazons, 2 Hahn's Macaw's, 1 Red Tail Black Too
Yes a Crimson Bellied Conure. They are not that noisy not at all like the sun conure. Well my pair are not loud anyway. I was almost convinced I wanted a second pair as the price has come down to $1000 a pair here. 6 years ago they were fetching $18,000 a pair. No i didn't pay that much for mine.
Wow, though, when they were selling for $18k a pair, that was lucrative for breeders.
Just out of curiosity, are cockatoos fairly inexpensive in Australia? In the US, they are one of the higher priced parrots, although not on par with say, Hyacinths.

A H/R SC2 is about $400 to $500. Blacks depending on the sub-species range from $1200 to $2500 each. We don't have access to Hyacinths in OZ although i do believe they are in one of our Zoos. I hate to think what the price of those are. Funny it's illegal for the general public to keep the Black Palm Too but they are kept as pet overseas. Not fair. Would dearly love one.
Our native parrots are usually reasonable priced here, however the exotics are higher. As these birds become more available the price does come down. It's called supply & demand. But boy does the price hit rock bottom when to many are bred. Take for instance the GCC When I bought my first pair they were $1000 a pair today we are flat out selling for $80 for a H/R normal colored chick. I get $100 for my cinnamons.
