Try putting cage in open garage and leave light on for a few hours before and after dark. He may not go into cage but may go to lighted area seeking shelter and people. If you see him in garage, turn off light quick and he will be afraid to move in dark then you close garage door. I live in NJ and caught a lovebird when it was hanging around yard and finally flew into my lighted garage while I was working in it at sundown one cold evening in November.

I actually made some progress this afternoon. I hadn’t seen him all morning and I was very concerned. Than Levi was on his window perch looking down & than started banging his beak on the window & he chased him off the hot tub into the bush. I guess Levi knew (this bright yellowish bird) could be a little competition?

He/she hung in that spot preening & closing his eyes trying to nap. So, I seized the moment. I went out, walked real slow & was saying hi & hello, hello Sweetie etc... I was able to get within about 6-7’ from him. He watched me but stayed put. I added fine pellets to the Conure food & changed the water in the birdbath. He didn’t fly away this time. YAY! I’m so happy, b/c prior to this, he’d see me in the window & bolt like the wild neighborhood birds.

Poor little birdie! Judging from the cere, I think it's a girl. I think you should try the millet. Most budgies love it. Maybe go to your local pet store and get that bag of spray millet? I tried to catch a little green budgie once. It stayed in the same park, and I went there almost every day with a butterfly net and an extra cage that a friend gave me. I left out millet and budgie seed mix and the budgie, along with lots of house sparrows, would eat it. I would try to creep up with my butterfly net, but she would always fly away. I almost got her once, but she climbed through a hole in the fence I had her against. One day, I stopped seeing her. I really hope someone else caught her and took her in.

Oh I do hope you get that little fella indoors, two of my budgies when a school kid where found and adopted like this after placing cards in all the local shops looking for the owner, this is before the WWW and the internet of course Luckily I just went over and offered my hand and they both just jumped up. Fabulous little fids.

After watching the video again, id also suggest she is a female adult (brown cere and plenty of dots on her cheeks)

I hope you can get her!! Poor little guy! Sadly, those little budgies are so common at the chain pet stores, she may have never been handled (in a pleasant manner) before, so you may never have luck catching her. Throwing a towel/sheet over him might be your best bet if you can get close enough, or the other excellent suggestions you've gotten. She's lucky she found your home to hang out near, I hope she realizes that and lets you save her.

Thanks everyone, some great ideas. I did finally get some millet spray so fingers crossed.

Here is 'Lassie' She has a crack in her beak that looks like it's healing. Any thoughts.. exposure, malnutrition, dehydration, abuse, maybe a fight with another bird?
The good news is it's not red and inflamed and appears to be on the mend.

It's good she keeps coming back, she most likely is hiding away near your house. which with more food more treats and a bit of patience she should come down to you

I hope so. As I started earlier, we have a lot of nest boxes & roosting boxes on my property as I am the ultimate bird nerd.
I’m hoping she’s taking shelter in one of them.

You could be a pain and get up early one morning and block all the holes to the nest boxes.

If they can be openned... you can catch the budgie that way.

A few disgruntled wild birds might come out of it but hell at least you are saving the little guy right?

We 'rescued' my first budgie that way.

maybe even find a tiny stuff toy budgie to put in. It may prompt her to fly down to say hello to a friend and distract her long enough for you to shut the door

I have done it LordTriggs. In my iBird Pro app the Budgie is included & I put my speaker out there & played the Budgie sounds after you suggested it the 1st time. Not successful thus far, but I’ll keep trying. Thx
