My lovely little Black Cap Conure, Lucy (in the sky with diamonds) <3
I'm back! Well, just for a short time...

Just a quick update...
I'm a senior now and getting ready for that degree :)

I surrendered Bleu to a specialist quite some time ago... He took a nice chunk out of my hand and it all just spiraled out of control from there... I realize now that while it was good that I got him out of the situation he was in and got him good vet care, I should not have gotten in over my head like I did.

Lucy never came home... I haven't seen her around the neighborhood at all, I fear the worst but hope for the best that she found her way into a happy, warm home and someone loves her too much to give up...

I've been too nervous to even venture back into a store where they have parrots and I haven't looked at the pet classifieds since I gave up my search. I took those events as a sign that I shouldn't worry about having critterbabies right now and focus on my studies.

I came on here to sell Lucy's old cage... I still haven't been able to part with it, but I'll post that on the appropriate forum.

Thanks everyone :) Happy flights!

You will know when the time is right to get another one. There is always a chance a bird lover found her and didn't give her up.

Aw I'm so sorry to hear of your experiences with birds. They can be wonderful pets if handled and trained right.

My suggestion for you is get a baby that is freshly weaned from a breeder. You can train them the way you want and teach them tricks and not to bite, those birds seldom have bad habits and if they do it's really easy to break them of it.

If you feel confident enough you could also could a baby that isn't weaned yet, but that's a whole other issue with feeding.

Good Luck!
