Hello,

I have a green cheek named Naughty and he is almost two years old. I am very in tune with him, and about two days ago I started feeling like something wasn't "right". Let me start by saying he will be going to the Vet Monday, but I am just looking for info/peace of mind (hopefully). OK, so two days ago I noticed Naughty sitting close to his UV light like he was cold. He seemed to be breathing a bit heavy, or at least breathing OUT loudly. I got him out and cuddled him in case he was chilly. I noticed that he seemed more docile than normal. We laid down to watch our crime shows, and he went to sleep as normal behind my neck. At this point his breathing was mildly abnormal. I put him up for the night and in the morning he seemed fine. He ate and a few hours later I feel like he became lethargic again and very itchy. I pulled him out and noticed that his, idk what to call it...Chin strap? seemed irritated and swollen-ish. His eyes are clear, his nares are clear, he is eating normally, he is pooping normally. The only change I made was buying a new bag of food. I have taken the food back, got another bag of a different brand just in case, and cleaned out the seed droppings just in case. He seems ok right now, in fact hes been eating like a pig since I put the new food in there. Any thoughts? Maybe something was wrong with the food? Sorry so long, just trying to be thorough.

Maybe the other food tasted different than what he was used to...old stale food will taste differently than fresh.....heck I will not eat something that has been in the freezer too long & tastes old or freezer burned, so I'm pretty sure your little friend may well have been hungry, especially since you say he's been pigging out.....

Good luck with the vet.....

I'm starting to feel like there was something wrong with that food. It was a brand new bag, but his problems started when I started using it. He is eating the other brand today and I feel like I can see him perking up. He was eating the other stuff like normal, I wonder if he was allergic to it, or if it was bad. Just in case, it was Petco's Healthy select Conure
