November 2019 POTM Contest

When we first brought Kass home, despite the year long research and searching for the perfect breeder, I had a moment of "Uh-oh...I think I made a mistake getting such a large bird as our first bird!" because only my husband could get him out of the cage we brought him home in. Fast forward to a week later, and I caught him falling asleep on his gym. It's not the best video of him but it was certainly the first time we knew he was comfortable enough around us to fall asleep and be vulnerable.

Wasn't sure how to embed this video from flickr, but if you click the image you can view the video.

Now that is so so adorable, I have over 500 videos of my blue and gold and I have yet to film him sleeping, as soon as he sees me watching him with the camera he just loves the attention and needs to show off. :blue1:

Little miss Dj the day we met her. Asked the store owner about a lavender IRN, and he said that one had found a home, but he showed me this little one, and we ended up with a pair.

Sadly she is going through a terrible molt, and she looks similar to that picture currently with pin feathers everywhere, and she's turned into a rotten little soul, my ear is still scabbed from her taking a nibble about a month ago.

Check out Miss DJ looking all brand spanking new! No wonder you wound up with a pair after seeing such a beautiful baby! She's gorgeous! Sorry you had to take that shot to the ear, but hopefully she'll be back to her sweet self soon enough.

Knocked OUT! Lol! Yep, he's definitely feeling at home in that shot. All safe and secure. Nice!

Alrighty I'm finally ready to serve up my entry. The time stamp tells me that the end of the New Mexico era was officially in July of '97. Next stop, Cleveland. :)

I love this one of Lady Abs and The Infamous RB! And the end of an era! That's pretty much a natural for this month's theme. A worthy entry indeed!

I liked the part where he opene3d his eyes and it looks like he says "HUH??oh...it's just you.." and goes back to snoozing lol. He is certainly comfortable :) and a handsome dude too!

What a sweet video! It definitely shows how comfortable Kass was feeling, I love it:)

I believe only Youtube videos can be embedded here, but will add for people to click the image in the poll thread so no one misses out on seeing this precious video:)

What a perfect entry, Kirby! I love this picture of Gail & the Rb, and it really shows how many years of wonderful memories have been made together.

Wow! Thank you, Rival! That's really sentimental of you! Yep, the next day we loaded up the crate and the car and made our way to the North Coast.
This is such a sweet POTM contest. And it's only week one...

Rival did such a great job in choosing the pics he posted! Your love for each other shines through in every post and it is beautiful to witness it. A huge thank you to Rickeybird for bringing y'all here:)

Bless you, Terry. Bless you in all you do! Bless you and this place and our whole Community. And this place! Okay, the blessings are completed. :)

EDIT
I JUST HAD A THOUGHT... THIS PHOTO WAS FROM DECADES LONG GONE, AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING OUTSIDE WITH AN UNHARNESSED BIRD... EVEN A CLIPPED ONE... I JUST WANTED TO FLAG THIS FOR NEW OR INEXPERIENCED PARRONTS. YIPES! :)

Just found out Spike passed away this morning so my entry has become so much more emotional for me. Here's an album I made of Spike: https://imgur.com/gallery/woV4A5O

I am so sorry, my deepest condolences for your loss of Spike. What a lovely tribute to your first bird. You had recently posted of his 19th birthday. May his memories forever brighten your days.

I'm so very sorry. Cockatiels have such sweet little faces, and Spike was no exception. What an amazing first pet for you to have loved.

Hail and Farewell, dear Spike. Rest well. We will remember you. You were and always will be one of us, a member of our Community.

My deepest condolences, Valyndris. I know how those 'tiels can work their way into the heart, so I'm so very sorry for your loss. That was a moving tribute album you made for Spike. What a sweet little bird.

Thank you everyone for your very kind words about Spike. He will always have a place in my heart. <3

We need some more entries of birds and the good memories shared with them. I posted a lot of sad stuff he here's a cute one JFF.

This is a funny one. So we've had this picture of baby Jacob on the wall for many years and only noticed the toy in the background around like 10 years later... No wonder he's such a T-Rex sometimes. :p

HAHA! It took me a few minutes to see which toy you were talking about, that is hysterical!
