Sgt. Nanners - white belly caique
working with birds and reading up on them does not prepare you...

that you will love your caique so much like is normal?? im at work like ugh why isnt my bird here??

sorry if this isnt the place to post this i dont have any bird friends and i can only tell drew how much i love our son (or daughter) so much lol

We know EXACTLY what you are feeling, as many of us feel as though our birds are more like our children! I wish I could bring my birds to work, I sit up front with a lot of windows around me and Ember would have a blast just sitting on my shoulder all day long.

Yep!!! ;) Non bird people do not understand the bond, or the magic! :)

I think it is called parrot-addiction.

Is had all kinds of side-effects: you start eating healthy because then you can share your meals, shower at crazy times 'because it is better for the birds', all of a sudden devellop an interest in little-kiddie-toys even if you are single, childless or have childeren not in that age-catagory, find levels of patience you never knew you had, learn not to care about clothes anymore (or just plain give up and decide to wear chewtoys fulltime / at home anyway .. ), the list is endless

and you know what? Most of them are great :)

YES this is totally the right place to post this!
We get it!

Maybe this is just me, but I don't get at all excited about finding bird poop on my carpeting, the wall, the comforter on my bed, etc. I've had friends over and they'll sit on the couch and be like "Is that a little bird poop? Ewe! How can you stand that?"...I just walk over and throw it away, lol...

I get ya, Mrs. Pants! We all do.

Recently I have had it pointed out to me that I make up little songs for the Rb, or alter
commercial jingles. Ya know that television ad for Liberty Mutual Insurance?
I just caught myself singing "Rickeybird, Rickeybird, Rickeybird...Rickeybird!"

Yeah my birds are potty trained and don't chew my clothes at all..I love clothes...guess I got lucky my 3 leave them alone. I am in love with my birdies the same way though!

I get you! :) I thought getting a bird would be like getting a hamster... something cute and fun to hold but not terribly interesting. What I got was more like having a child than it is like having a pet. I'm just so darn lucky I get to work from home and I'm with my little Yoda all day, every day.

My husband had pets growing up but he never got attached to them. Every day he tells me how amazed he is that he could love anything (other than me! :D ) as much as he loves our Yoda. His parents are always telling me they can't believe how attached he is to our Yoda, they've never seen him care so much for a pet. Yoda has changed our lives.

Non-Parronts just do NOT understand.

Welcome to the club :)

I work in different areas on 3/4 different computers.
All my desktops have pictures of my Fids on them.
It helps a little bit.

I agree non-bird people don't understand it. I have a friend who doesn't like birds and she can't understand what I see in parrots. For example: Zenek (my GCC) squawked few times and then she asked me how I can stand it (also then she said a sad thing what she would have done if she had had him)
Another time I told her that since I was 10 I had always had parrot(s) with a break about 6 months. Then she said: "This had to be the most happy time in your life" me: "No, I was thinking about species my next parrots"

Ms Pants you shoulld see my pirate jacket after a day of having Salty on my shoulder all day. I wipe off what I can , but like you cant get 'em all. Don't bother me in the least but some folks are all like "EWWW".
I looks 'em straight in the eye and say you want to argue with a PIRATE?? Or worse , his Parrot?

it makes me so sad like only one of our friends showed the proper amount of enthusiasm about our son and the rest were like "oh well yeah its a bird" and i'm like DO YOU NOT SEE HIS MAGIC!?

its funny we have designated "poop shirts" now that we dont mind getting dirty or that have poop already on them, plus a roll of paper towels in every room :p since potty training he's gotten a lot better at not pooping on us but its easy enough to clean so whatevs! he chews clothes but we redirect using toys he likes. he's a bit of a dink though he'll get super excited on a toy and then try to fly off (which he can't as he's clipped) so he just glides gracelessly pfft.

its definitely not like having hamsters, but it reminds me a lot of when my dog Xena and late cat Alfonz were babies and I had to do a lot of work with them and bonding and training so its like getting to be a "mom" all over again!

honestly i love having toys all over the floor and getting things for him. it literally looks like we have toddlers but nope, birb! which is a-ok cuz neither me and drew want human children.

i like this club!

My bhc came to live with me 3 years ago - I'd never lived with birds before that, and he was an unplanned rehoming.

I'm totally in love. I had no idea how smitten I would be... xA

*Walks around poops on head and shoulder*** Oh.....Don't mind me.... That's my hat and my head is her perch. :blue:

I rescued Gracie and the family was fine.

I was only granted permission to foster home Anakin(Anna). It didn't take long for that dang cockatoo to win my heart and wrap it in a bow. 6 weeks after he came to us I told them he was NOT being rehomed no matter what. If they couldn't wrap their heads around it than take it on the road!

I've been in trouble ever since(nothing new).:p

Baya has his own theme song! I made it up and sing it so often, now my son knows it (and sings it), too!!

Haha I sing Lido (Leo :)) Shuffle by Boz Scaggs to Leo all the time. Bluebell doesn’t have a song yet really, unless you count a birdy rendition of Bad Boys.

~Bad eggs, bad eggs, what you gonna do, what you gonna do when they fly to you~

I like to sing the Game of Thrones theme to my boys, using their names as the lyrics. ;)

YOOOda yoda YOOOOda yoDA yoDAAAAAAAAAAA!:04:

I hope you are no longer friends with that person. I can't imagine having a friend who's that harsh and mean about a living creature, especially one you keep and love. I don't think that's a good person who would say something like that.
