Due to get a new baby in 3-4weeks :)
Hi

I'm Vicki I'm from Northern Ireland and I've had my wee conure for well over a year and really joined this site cause I have been looking to get her a parrot cage but I am really confused as to the bar spacing issue as I dunno what's to big so was hoping someone on here could maybe help me 😋? We have a cat and a dog in the house as well so really don't want wee sparky to escape

The cage she is currently in is a 10mm spacing but as she will be getting a new cage mate in 3-4weeks I want a bigger cage for them and all the spacing seems to be 17-22mm and was wondering if that would be ok for pineapple conures?

Hi and welcome. I don't know conures, but there are plenty of member who have them, so hopefully you won't have to wait too long for an answer to your question.

Hi Vicki...welcome aboard, enjoy your stay.....

12.6mm to 15.8mm bar spacings would suit your feathered friends very well.....17mm would generally be OK, but 22mm would normally be too wide a spacing for most small conures.....

The spacing measurements refer to the area that a bird's toes/talons can easily span when they grip the cage bars to climb or otherwise move around their cage.....a 22 mm spacing would be comfortable for Patagonians, the largest of the conure species.....

Thank you
And would you be able to recommend any where that would do parrot cages with smaller bad spacing?

Thanks
Vicki

Sorry meant bar

I think if you look around the forums' threads, you'll see a lot of us say one thing but mean another.....

It's kind of hard recommending cage sources this far away, but here are a couple of sources you might find interesting: for used cages, try Cages in Ireland | Adverts.ie

and for new cages, one supplier is: Bird Cage on Sale now at zooplus

I'm sure there are other suppliers available on your side of the pond, but they're not easily found from over here.....

Northern Ireland welcome from Macon Georgia USA.
Sorry I know nothing about smaller parrots, but would love to learn and maybe add one to my flock.
