Hi,
I was looking for some answers on something I have never had the pleasure of encountering with having cockatiels and that is a male I had for 4 mo than bringing in a female and now he is biting really bad and very protective of her and I found this forum. Hope somebody can help me, I already posted about it.
I've had cockatiels for over 26 yrs and usually was only 1 male at a time, and one time had a male and the mother was given to me by the breeder cuz the father had died and never had a problem when she came with her son like I am having now. Maybe cuz Beau is young and so is Lucy? Lucy is 4 1/2 and Beau is about 2 maybe 3 I'll have to check on that again. I got them both from the same resucer. I really don't want to give Lucy back, but I miss my BeauBeau, he is so mean the past 4 days. And I really don't want any babies so I have to watch these two but if it happens, I'll try the fake eggs to stop her and all that I've been told to do about that part of it. But I just want him to be nice again to me, she is sweet and wants to come to me but he won't let her.
Thanks

Keep them in seperate rooms for a while until he learns again that your his companion not her. then once he starts getting better only let them be together during their play time and again seperate them. this will definatley avoid babies and may even help your problem.

awsome! that is exactly what i said i was going to do! so glad i am correct in that decision. it's a do over all over again with her. i posted on the parakeet/cockatiel forum. can you tell me if it will be really bad if i put a glove on to get him out of her cage today? i was going to do that this morning because when we are near the cage he pecks at her but i figured to do it later on when he is a bit calmer and tired from being up all day. so i should move her away from him in her cage to another room? so he can't see her or hear her at all?
