Question, she has been sneezeing alot and i think it might just be the air being dry from the heat, but she had some mucus, is that normal?
Also what im doing is I take her out at 8 feed her, put her in so she eats the reg food then after an hour i take her out again and play with her, i do this throughout the day. i feed her formula at 8am and 4pm and i give her cooked food mix for two hours and i take the ultimate blend and mix it with dry straw berries, corn and vegies.

There should not be any discharge when she sneezes. I think I'd make her a vet appt. myself. You need a whole wellness check anyway.

They all look just like my baby sun, Zazu! They are very similar in coloring from what I've seen when they are young. When a sun gets to a certain age though their coloring will change and most of the green will disapear and turn to yellow. At least that's what I've read and been told. Don't quote me on that for I may be wrong!! This is my first Sun conure myself so I'm still learning as well! Enjoy your new birdie-I know I am!!

the vet told me to put a drop of saline in each nostril wait 15mins then put a drop or two of ciprofloxacin for 10 days, they said the culture should be done in a day or two, but i couldn't imagine the baby haveing anything except maybe a slight cold. in my apt i dont contrl the heat the temp goes down to like 68-67f would that give the baby a cold being shes fully feathered??

No, your place is warm enough. I keep mine on 65. She probably caught something at the breeders or pet store. The stress of leaving the breeder may have allowed it to come out. Whatever infection Merlin caught from the airport or plane was airborne. She just breathed it in. And Pete caught it from her the same way.

She does not eat a full 10cc in the mourning but i think thats ok because shes eating the other food in the cage, what i did was insted of feeding her at 4 i do it at 4:30 to make sure she eats it all which she has been doing, her weight when i got her was 118g now shes 115g. which i think is normal when you first bring a bird home.

She has stopped sneezing as much but when she does there is no discharge. Also I have noticed that when I put her back in the cage she goes to a corner and stays there . I talked to the breeder they said the reason she's doing that is because iv been taking her out to much and when I put her back she feels punished or doesn't understand why, so im going to try 3 times a day for 20 mins. that is what the book recommends. She is extremely playful with me and is eating good, Im extremely happy with her and im glad I made the decision to get a second :orange: I have not introduced her to my other bird yet, I have there cages in separate rooms.

I doubt she feels she's being punished when in the cage. It may still be adjustment to her new home or because she's not feeling well yet. But, it's good she doesn't have discharge anymore. Make sure you continue with the anti biotic though all 10 days or whatever the vet prescribed.

the vet said the cultures will be back by the latest on tuesday. I agree i think she is not adjusted and i feel bad doing it but she said it was really important and after three weeks i can keep her out as much as i want. the cultures will be clear as she was tested already.

I guess I'm lucky my vet can run tests right on the spot. I was able to look in the microscope and see the bacteria Merlin had. She also ran a complete blood panel while I waited.

Your baby looks like my Con! I had to double check she was still in her cage when I saw the pic :p She's very pretty. I don't see any yellow on her wings though so she might be a Jenday. Jendays never have yellow on their wings unless they are hybrid Sundays.

I actully thought that to but iy just takes a while for them to get the yellow.

Just a little info concerning the sneezing. My Molly is seven months old now and sneezes several times a day. The sneeze usually has a small amount of discharge and has been going on pretty much ever since I brought her home. She has high energy, consistent weight (I weigh her daily), eating well and does not show any signs of distress. I decided to take her to my avian vet for a check-up because I didn't want anything to happen to her. The vet did all the test and everything came back fine. She said that there were several reasons Molly was likely to be sneezing:
1. She is molting and the dust is getting to her.
2. She likes the attention she gets from me when she sneezes. (I usually say Bless You!).
3. Lastly, she is kissing me back because the sound of her sneezing sounds like a little kiss.

My vet said just keep an eye on her and make sure the discharge does not have any color to it.

Anyway, needless to say I was very relieved that my baby is healthy. I just figured I would pass this along.

Im still kinda concerned all day there was no discharge but a little while ago she had some, But im just glad i had the cultures done, is it posseble its from the dry heat and the temp change shes not used to? my one fear is Pseudomonas.

Conures usually do pretty well with dry heat. They are nowhere near as dry and dusty as say, Greys.

How long until the test results are back?

My zon and Grey do sneeze more than my conure. They are molting and dusty and it does get in their nares. But, I've never seen any discharge with it. And yes, I do think sometimes they do it to get me to say "Bless you", lol!
