Oh , forgot to mention this , lol. I was sitting on the floor with Stella and some of her toys, which include a ball with bells in it , round chunks of wood , and some short perches i gave her as foot toys....well , she will chase the ball , catch it , then shake it because I guess she likes the sound of bell ,lol. Another thing she does which is completely adorable is she likes to steel my crocs and run off with them ,lolol. We play sort of a chase game and when I catch her , she will hold onto the croc until I say "Stellllla" , then she drops it and grabs my hand with her foot and kind of rolls over on her side, lolol.
I couldn't believe she actually rolled over ! Then she grabbed my hand again and she lets herself down slowly on her side again , lets go and rolls over !! Is this something Macaws like to do or is it just my silly girl :) I still stare at her in amazement .
My hubby was hysterical,he said it must have been my foot odor :54::p

Sorry for the delay folks, my husband commandeered the computer for hours on end, just after I was asked to post these  Men!

Thank you thank you thank you thank you Katherine :)
I had a lot of angry people here looking for pictures , thank you for coming through for me , lolol. ( I owe you ) ;)

You're very welcome! I also was ignoring my phone most of the day, so I didn't see your text until 3 hours later! Ooops!

Gosh, Katherine, who wears the pants in your family, huh?! LOL :D

Hyacinths have always given me the heeby jeebies. Not sure why! But, for as creepy as I think Hyacinths are, Stella sure is cute! ;) Haha. I'm really glad she's fitting in great with your family!

Trust me - I wear the pants. I had also had the computer all morning and pretty much the entire day yesterday, so I guess it was his turn ;)

How can Hy's give you the heeby jeebies?? Other Macaws, I can understand. B&G's do it for me (and Hubs wants one, go figure! ) But I can't fathom the Hy doing it. They're just too darn sweet!

She is a beautiful bird. Good luck with her. I've worked with a few Hy's over the years...They are goofy, playful and very strong-willed..Just make sure she cant get to anything you don't want her playing with...To them everything is a toy, and when its in their beaks it will be destroyed..

Stella is soooooooooo BEAUTIFUL!!

I know! I don't know, they've always just creeped me out. I think it's because the way their eyes are it always looks like they're about to lunge! Lol. B&G's?! No, you must be the crazy one! Hahaha. B&G's are so small and pretty!

I can relate to the eyes creeping you out...i feel the same way about the
ape's eyes...when we go to the zoo , i can't go in that exhibit. their eyes make the hair on the back on my neck stand straight up !! I went in there once and came face to face with a big Silver Back , he looked right at me ,our eyes met , and i nearly passed out !! Just something about them , IDK..
Maybe it reminds me of meeting my first hubby ? :roll eyes:

But seriously , they creep me out ! I think they are awesome animals , but I just can't make eye contact with one , lol.

Hy's are like big ol' blue teddy bears with really big beaks!

Wow, there are a lot of b's in that sentence.

she is beautiful. Hy's creep me out too but thats just because of how big they are and those beaks...

They look too big and strong to be so gentle and sweet. That's what creeps me out about them... so sweet with such potential. Eeek!

OMG... Stella is beautiful. So happy things are working out and everyone is happy!! Just your description of her playing had me cracking up.
Hugs to you and your crew...

I have to say..those big birds kinda scare me too! When my husband surprised me with Purl..my first thought was "Oh sh*t..she's got a big beak" My cockatiels could draw blood..so that beak freaked me out.

That said..it doesn't mean that if someone gave me the chance to hold one or be able to give it a treat or toy I wouldn't. I hope some day to get to meet one in person.

I wish you lived closer ! You really need to experience her gentleness :)
She does put pressure on fingers but she is learning and does it less and less.
She will now touch my hand gently and not even go to mouth. But , like a two year old , she needs to "touch" everything :)
I feel we are both comfortable with each other now which means we are going in the right direction :)

I really think she might try to say something soon because she is mumbling ....like she's working on a word or two.
I can't wait to hear her first word ! I can't imagine what it will be :)

There sure are , lol. But your description is perfect :)

She is BEAUTIFUL! When I was waiting to take my Quaker home from the bird shop I got him from, they had a Hyacinth Macaw named "Smurf" that they were handfeeding. They are just the most gorgeous, gentle giants. I'm so happy for you (and maaaaybe a little jealous ;))!

A Hy is my dream bird. I really really want one. But the last time I had that kind of money, I was paying off debt instead of doing fun things.

Oh wait, I went on a trip to Paris last year too. So, I guess if I give up any further trips, coffee for the next, oh, 5 years, alcohol for 10, new clothes and college tuition for my daughter... I could probably afford one ;)
