New parrots advice

Hi all. I purchased two parrots yesterday and was the pet shop owner suggested the cage size. I just want to reconfirm that this is big enough for my two six month old parrots- Indian ring necks (I was told they are six months. But they look bigger ). I have had them for almost two days and I only heard one of them chirp once. Is that normal? As far as diet is concerned between the two of them I fed them one medium banana, one small tomato and one small guava. I put some water in a bowl but they don't seem to drink any and that concerns me.

Please tell me if I'm doing anything wrong. I would like to provide the best for my parrots.

For one, the cage is way too small for two indian ringnecks! Not even big enough for just one. You need a way bigger cage then that.

What were they feeding them in the store? Try to imitate what they're feeding as you can change diet later on but what your feeding is not enough and I hope you have discarded those fruits since yesterday.

Mikes and Shelly Thank you for the reply. I am in India. Pet store owners here are not as educated as in other countries such as the US. There are no guidelines so pet stores usually do not keep them in the best of conditions. They are mostly overcrowded so I doubt if these babies were even getting proper nutrition. Please guide me as to how much food (fruits and veggies) I should provide my new loves since that's easier to find than pellets and such.

You'll need a much bigger cage than that..

What cage sizes are available where you are? I'd also avoid round cages; as birds are prey animals and without a corner to go into they might seem a little more shy and fearful than they should.
