yeah the vet took my old one he said the crack in his peak is deep and it might need some attention so he suggested that he take it and replace it for me with a similar one.

he said because i'm a beginner i might have some problem and it will be easier for me to take the trained one

I am sorry and I don't want to seem rude but that sounds a little weird?

That seems like a nice thing to have done.

He's beautiful.

Your new bird is beautiful, I love how much blue he has on his face. I know you only had your amazon for a few days total so it's not too weird although it's definitely a random turn of events!

I just hope as you build your relationship with this new bird you will be dedicated through thick and thin - meaning now that you have started dedicating time to him you will not trade him off because of health or behavioral issues. Parrots are a big lifetime commitment and you got lucky being able to "change up" right at the start, but once you start bonding with this new bird you will be committing to a lifelong companion.

Thanks Birdman,
Of course Mallory,
and i really liked the previous one, but to be honest when the vet told me about the deep crack on his peak and he told me that i have to be a specialist to handle an abused bird i got scared a little bit.
I was afraid of that i might miss him up so i told myself we just started, and god send him to me, he is a specialist.

i was wondering can i take my parrot with me if i was going to visit my friend.

he also have a parrot can we let them play togather??

he have a CAG,,

and if i want to take him with me, is there a special procedure that i have to do? or just put him in the cage and go?

Since you don't have any other birds in the house (from my understanding) you don't need to worry about quarantining your bird inside the house. However, you should ideally wait until you have determined that your bird is healthy before allowing him to meet other birds. Right now, your bird could potentially get your friend's CAG sick. At the same time, it will be good for your bird to meet other birds at a young age, just as you want to socialize him with new people whenever possible. I would wait no shorter than a month to make sure the bird is healthy. Since parrots tend to mask their illness, it can take a month or much longer for an apparently healthy bird to start showing symptoms of disease.

When you do decide to bring your bird to meet others, however, you could use a travel carrier or even a harness/flight suit. I use a modified plastic cat carrier that I drilled a few holes in the side of to mount wooden perches so the birds have somewhere to perch if they choose. I also use an aviator harness with Eva and highly recommend them as it's not safe to take even clipped birds outside without either a harness or carrier. If you want to harness train your bird, start now as soon as you two are comfortable. It's important your bird will allow you to handle his wings and legs so you might want to make sure you're at that point before getting the harness. :) There are some great videos available online for harness training.

Last (sorry to write a novel) be careful introducing your bird to others. African greys tend to be rather territorial birds, although some are more friendly than others. I would not start out with them on the same play stand (or table, person etc.) and I would not let them play unsupervised until you are really sure they get along. It only takes a few seconds for someone to get hurt! Even if the grey isn't particularly fond of your amazon though, it's still good for your bird to spend time around others. My birds don't play with each other but they do appreciate the "flock" environment we have.

Hello guys,

I don't know what is going on , but the new Parrot is calm the whole time!!!
he just sit on the stand and either watching us or sleep!!
but when i go near him he try to escape from me like a regular bird.
what i mean he doesn't make any sounds like the previous one and i asked my friend about his bird he said he make sounds the whole time !!!

He is a regular bird! Birds are not like puppies who love you on the first day you bring them home. Just like the first bird, you need to gain his trust. They all take effort.
Just curious, how is it breeding canaries?

For the first few days or couple of weeks, he may be more on the quiet side until he gets used to you. All of my birds were "quiet" for the first few days until they felt comfortable and secure. If he tries to fly off when you approach, sit a few feet away from him, read to him, talk to him, offer him treats. He needs some time to get used to his new environment. As for the harness, take your time with that, don't rush. He needs to be comfortable with you, and trust you before you even think about approaching him with the harness.

:22:

Why?

Well your profile says canary breeder and you haven't mentioned it. Just thought I would ask is all.

Are you asking why you need to earn a bird's trust?

Anyway... it's perfectly normal for your bird to be scared in a new environment. Just let him be until he starts being a bit more animated, playing with toys and chatting will be a good sign he is starting to get settled. If he doesn't seem stressed by it, spend some time near his cage. Talk to him, read to him, even eat meals or nap near his cage. If you can, let him out to explore the outside of his cage or a nearby playpen. Just make sure if you do this, you have the time to wait for him to go back into his cage naturally as you don't want to handle or force him in any way just yet.

Let this bird come to you. Once he is comfortable with your hand near his cage, try offering treats near and then from your hands. Eventually he will seek out your attention but it is very important that you allow him to come to you. The bonding process with a new bird can take a long time. I had to start "from scratch" with my birds and it took about a month before Greenleaf even started to let me hold her and about the same for Eva to start trusting us. I promise it is worth it in the and, and really a few weeks or months is nothing compared to the ~60 year lifespan of your bird!

your all right,, but i'm a little bit confused and i was thinking the whole time!!

I swear i feel like i need to get him back, What do you think guys ? since i'm at the beginning, i loved this bird and everything, but it's not the same i felt something different with the old one, i felt like he needs me and i can be his best friend especially after what he been through ......
I really felt like we can be best friends..
I will go to the vet tomorrow and ask him for my old one and i hope he will give it to back.

i don't want any other one ,, i'm defiantly sure, :D

I am reluctant to comment, speechless.

This definitely feels like some sort of a joke.

Like this isn't reality.
I can't think of any of this actually happening.

Someone needs to grow up
