Hi! My name is Rachel and I belong to a darling 6-month old Black-Headed Caique named Sunny. She I said coming along nicely! My last Vaique, Gomez, died last year so I know all about Caiques! I look forward to reading posts and learning some new things. One thing: Sunny will NOT eat pellets. (Gomez didn’t either!Thanks for reading!!

Welcome to you both! Pellets, meh! Everyone’s goto granola! A true high quality diet really doesn’t need it! A trick though, try putting pellets only at a play station!

I like flboyput new foods in a big fish on top of the cage, which I have perches and toys. They explore on their own and I also feed them by hand like treats.

Welcome aboard Rachel and Sunny! My deepest condolences for your loss of Gomez.

Pellets are not an absolute, much depends on the overall diet. Generally for parrots, pellets are better than an all-seed diet. Frequent vegetables and fruits are superb.
