Hello everyone,

I just joined your forum after having a couple of bad experiences at Another Parrot Forum.

I am not a breeder but I love animals in general and since I was a kid I have raised birds/parrots, chickens, cats, dogs and fish.

Recently both my lovebirds and my zebra finches laid some eggs and when I posted a couple of threads at the other Parrot Forum members asking some questions before their so called experts on birds and breeding ask me any question to understand the situation like how old are my birds or any thing their advice was to toss the eggs and get rid of them. Which kind of turned me off and I ignored it the first time but when it happened again a second time and the expert who wrote me the answer stated explicitly in her answer that their job is to provide information in hope to change our minds about breeding. Which pushed me away from that forum and I decided to leave.

I do not want to make my introduction any longer than it is. So, I will leave it at that. Here is a picture of my current flock :)

Welcome to you - beautiful flock!

Breeding is a topic that many bird-lovers are passionate about (with a wide range of perspectives). We have some members who are knowledgeable about breeding or raising babies. We also have members who advocate for adoption over hatching babies. I hope you enjoy this forum - the people are wonderful and there’s a lot of knowledge here. Look forward to hearing more about your birds :).

Thank you Jen. I am sure it is as I have experienced already :)
My lovebirds have been sitting on a clutch of seven eggs for almost 3 weeks now.
My zebra finches just laid their first egg yesterday. :)

Welcome to Parrot Forums!

Regarding the other Forum Group, it is not uncommon to request an Age of the Birds involved as very young Birds can lay eggs and those eggs are rarely viable. Hence, having the Birds ages help define the response.

You will find that most Forum Groups tend not to recommend that individuals who are not trained in Breeding and therefore Care of Baby Birds not allow their Birds to breed. This due to far too many Baby Birds dying from starvation should the parents reject the babies. You will find that the more information you provide, the more specific the responses including your level of experience regarding Breeding and Caring for Baby Birds.

Please visit our Breeders Forum for greater information of Breeder and caring for Baby Birds. Link: Breeding/Raising Parrots
