The budgies finally got a flight cage (last week but things have been busy so I haven't been able to post 😬) and they are soooooooooo happy!!

Here's the cage I got- it was a slight pain to put together, but I did it myself and it didn't take very long

Here it is put together with only some stuff in it

Add some branches and the budgies...

Snow absolutely LOVED it from the get-go

It was amazing watching them fly and hover and explore the whole cage, I literally sat there for who knows how long just watching them.

I really like the cage itself- wasn't too hard to put together, the finish is a nice hammered pewter look (instead of black like advertised), there are plenty of side doors on each side which have springs to keep them shut- the budgies wouldn't be able to push them open, but a cockatiel probably could!

I LOVE IT! You did a really nice job setting it up. It's like a mini jungle in there for them:D

They really liked the branches- I'll have to cut some new ones today because I've taken all the leaves out as they wilted :( so now they're just bare branches and I can tell they're like "awww man!" Lol I'm also going to set up a bath system for them today- I tried a regular dish on the bottom and they looked at me like I was an idiot- I'm thinking of attaching an upside down water bottle so it drips into a dish so they see the water movement.

Shirre, the cage is awesome! You have some lucky, lucky budgies:) It really does look like a rain forest in there.

Have you considered artificial foliage? They make some from non-toxic materials designed for use in terrariums/vivariums, and might be worth looking into it for your jungle cage so you don't have to keep dealing with wilted branches:) If I had a mansion and the money, I have always *so* wanted to make Kiwi a huge jungle room.

Looks great! I just got the bigger version for my linnies, but they are going to have to share. They won't have the mansion to themselves.

That's a great cage! I don't own this one, but I heard so many good things about it. And the price was just awesome! :) You budgies are so lucky!

Wow! Come decorate my cage! That looks gorgeous, I could only imagine how much your babies love it :)

Thanks everyone!

I was pretty excited about the price, but even more excited about the space they have now!

@kiwibird I'll have to look into the artificial foliage- even though we have plenty of trees here to harvest from it's kind of a pain to do it weekly at this rate lol I guess all of the trees will be well manicured by the end of summer though! Haha my next step is to work on the rest of the room (my office) so they can come out and fly around [emoji4] I don't think it will be as extensive as fargo's awesome room, but we'll see lol [emoji6]

@dinosrawr kinda like extreme home makeover only it'd be extreme bird cage makeover??? Haha that'd be awesome!

My gcc actually nibbles on the fresh foliage (I have to make sure it's washed and non-toxic), so maybe if they nibble on it they get some fresh 'veggies'? LOL

I :smile015: Budgiedise (Budgie Paradise). :D

SO much room for them to explore and fly to. AWESOME setup, Shirre. :)

I love it, I know the birds do too. Hard to imagine a more comfy space for budgies. Lucky little birds.

@veimar well, the budgies had been nibbling on them and it was funny because one night I put them to bed and there were still plenty of leaves on the branches, the next morning ALL the leaves were on the bottom of the cage [emoji33] lol

@wendy. Hahahha budgiedise!! I love it!

@allee I originally wanted a DOUBLE flight cage for them, but all the ones I found were over $300 [emoji33] and this one I couldn't pass up- plus they kinda get lost in there lol sometimes it takes a minute for me to find everyone amongst the leaves (when there was leaves lol)

@faeryphoebe the one on the left is mulberry -chili has a few of these branches for perches, and the other is "big leaf" maple which are EVERYWHERE in our area. The mulberry tree attracts TONS of wild birds because they go BONKERS over the berries lol

looks great! i bet they love it! what kind of branches do you use? and do you wash them or anything or just put them in? i would worry there is something on them that could hurt the bird :(

I harvest branches from our property; we have (pesticide-free) maple, mulberry, apple, pear, grape wood, and bamboo.

Fresh branches I hose them down and make sure there's no bird poop or bugs on them, and I use new growth so there are no signs of fungi or deterioration and disease. Plus you must be ABSOLUTELY sure they haven't been sprayed with pesticides...but as long as they're bird-safe trees/plants/vegetation then it's ok to give it to them. :)

That's the same cage we have for our conure :) it's huge inside isn't it. It looks great with all the toys
