Hi Everyone,

My name is Andrea and I live in Savannah, Ga with my husband and 4 children. Our family previously included a cockatiel named Sunny who unfortunately passed away almost 2 years ago. He was such an awesome bird and it was devastating to lose him.

We are finally at the point where we are ready for another bird and are currently considering either a Sun Conure or a Senegal. We have located a private breeder who has both available once weaned. I am doing as much research as I can on both and think the are both beautiful birds, but any insight would be appreciated. We really want to make the best decision for our family as well as our new bird baby.

I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Andrea

Hi Andrea! Welcome! There are some very knowledgeable people on this forum.

I myself just adopted my first bird, a Sun Conure, a couple of weeks ago and they've helped me tremendously.

I can tell you Ducati is Loud! I'm constantly worried if he's going to keep my husband and our roommate who were on evening shifts up in the morning, but they reassure me he doesn't scream for too long after I leave for work. As I type this from my laptop in kitchen he's screaming at me because he can't see me (something we are working on. It's slow but we're getting there).

Honestly I have no complaints about adopting him. We find joy in him everyday. He has such a personality on him. I often call him my vain little bird because he LOVES to look at himself in the mirror. The other day I caught him rocking in the mirror. He'd get really close and make a little squeak then move away from it. Over and over he did this. Had me and my husband cracking up.

I'm biased, so I'm always going to recommend the poicephalus family. I love my two sennies.
