Hello. I am new from Ohio and very new to Parrots. I am a member of many forums ranging from my lovable rats to race cars and games.

I am currently in the research phase. I spend months learning everything I can about a pet before I give them a forever home.

Currently my pets consist of....3 Rats Two of those are feeder rats I rescued. One is a dumbo.

I have two fish tanks. One is 180 gallon freshwater with some very large oscars and jack dempsey. The other is a 36 gallon reef saltwater aquarium with a couple clownfish.

I have two Leopard geckos. A reborvski hamster and a frog.

I am researching seeing what the best fit for a parrot would be for our family. So I may be a bit of a lurker but I will add some input when I feel educated enough.

Thanks for your time and hope to talk to everyone soon.

Geckos and a frog? Nice! You sure got some crazy animals!

Welcome, I'm new here too! I just got a Triton Cockatoo; noisy but loveable and a sweet heart... They are the puppies of the bird kingdom, like no other!

Hi Drew and welcome to the forum, lots of friendly people here who are always willing to assist with helpful info, enjoy your stay and never be shy about asking questions.......

Suprising enough the animals are all fairly easy to take care of. The aquariums are pretty self sufficient. Takes me about a hour per week to do all major maintenance. The rats I just open up there cage they hop up on my lap then run around looking for treats. So I can clean there cage. The Leopard geckos only about 15 minutes a week for cleaning. The only pets I have that really enjoy person to person interaction are the rats. They love play time.

Here are a few pictures of some of my misc pets.

They love attention. They act like little begging dogs whenever someone comes near the tank.

Happy to have another animal lover here with us. I really like the way you study about the animal before making the commitment for guardianship. Our feathered friends are fantastic. Hope you will consider adoption because there are hundreds needing good homes. I can suggest those places if you let me know what state you live in.

I live in Central ohio. One of my leopard geckos 3 of my fish and two of the rats were rescues. I usually adopt or rescue before I purchase.

If you know of any in this area that would be greatly appreciated. But it will be a while before I am ready.

It truely is wonderful to see someone taking the time to do the research and KNOWING their not quite ready yet to just impulsivly add an animal to their home without being prepared, Kudos to you Drew, I just wish a few more would be as resposible in their decision as you have been ;)

Thanks. I honestly think I will be ready for a purchase in a year or two. I also want to socialize with a few birds to even make sure they are the right pet for us. We went to local pet store and socialized with a pair of Conures and a Ecletus...(I think that is how its spelled). All were young and absolutely needed a home. All three of them were very friendly but you could tell they needed more attention. But....My wife is going to college and I wont make a purchase until I can literally recite all the requirements and dietary needs of any animal before I purchase it. And we can provide the time and care needed for a life long partnership with a animal.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.
