Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with getting a new foam mattress and the fumes associated with it? I haven't been able to find much of anything definitive online, so I was hoping to find someone here.

I have the option of putting the birds in another room (which I plan to do) and I also have an air purifier w/ pollutant removing filter, as well as good air circulation.

My birds usually sleep in the same room as me and I was just curious as to how long I should keep them out of there. Any information would be very helpful, thanks!

Welcome to the forums, glad you found us to ask your questions.....

Yours is the first question like this I've ever seen asked, but unless your air purifier is hospital grade, capable of removing specific offgassed emissions, your purifier probably wouldn't do you any good...unless you are trying to remove solid particulates, like dust or tar & nicotine, I would do further research on exactly what the filter will & will not remove, but I don't think you need go that far, simply because of what are or have purchased.....

Mattresses are closely controlled as to what they're made from, by the government agencies that licenses the manufacturer...and...there's the fact that it could be assumed that this mattress would be used by pregnant women, children and/or persons with compromised immune systems or other health conditions, but if you want further assurance, I would either E-mail or write a regular letter to the manufacturer's customer service department and ask them if the mattress contains any chemicals or other substances that might be dangerous to companion birds, but for the above reasons, I seriously doubt you would have any problems with the mattress.....

Good luck.....
