Parrots
A pair of cockatiels
And pair of African Greys
So...We have a new family member. This is a gorgeous 8 month old male CAG. He is now sitting inside his cage, he is a bit shy. The breeder suggested to let him be for a day or two and after that to start taking him outside.
I took my femail 1.3 years old CAG to look at him from outside his cage, but she was a bit afraid.
Any advice on how to behave with a newby and how to introduce him to my female CAG will be appreciated.

Congrats with your new addition CAG are awesome birds.
Great advice from the breeder, did he mention a quarantine period to you?
Is the new bird going to be in quarantine?
Bringing in a new bird quarantine is a must, for at least 30 days.
I would suggest quarantine then introduce the birds to each other.

Yes for meanwhile he'll live in separate cage, I also would like to "make friends" with him before introducing him to her, so hopefully they will still contact with me even though they have each other.

Happy they are in separate cages.
When quarantine birds the cages should be in separate rooms?

:grey:

During quarantine the birds should preferably be in a totally different room, and if you have central heat/air, the vents should be shut off in the room the newcomer is in. :) All new birds should also be vetted.

BEAUTIFUL new baby you have there. What did you name him?

Are you planning on breeding them in the future since you mention you want to eventually put them in the same cage?

I am thinking Kesha will be his name (russian male name). I'm not planing to make them breed. I just wanted my Tosia to be less lonely, when I am at work. Every day when I leave for work she cries like a baby, even though she has plenty of toys and I play with her before leaving. So hopefully now they'll keep each other company:grey::grey:

Beautiful new addition there! They looks so sweet with those big dark eyes when they are babies!

Yes, I like those grey colored eyes too

I hope they do bond. I've never been successful at getting grays to bond with each other. I had six at one time, two of them clutch sister and brother, and none of them even looked twice at the other ones so here is wishing you do better than me.

Oh, boy! Six Greys at the same time?!? It's like a full time job:)
I guess we can do nothing to help them bonding, can we?
For meanwhile my female Grey a bit afraid of a new Grey and a new Grey is afraid of everything in general:) So it's too early to tell will we end up with a pair or not. But, wish us luck:)

Yuhuuu, our new baby started coming out of his cage. Today I opened the door to his cage and went to another room so he won't be frighten, so he came out and sat on top of his cage.
Afterwards he stepped up on my arm and went inside the cage. During that "manover" he cried like crazy, but it looks like he started to adjust a bit.

He's so pretty! I like the last photo that shows both birds. (You have to change your parrots info now ;) )

Rosie has the same brand of cage

Those are nice cages, very easy to clean up.
Ups, I forgot to change my parrot info, thanks for reminding me:)

That's the kind of cage I got! Petri's still in a tank though right now for a few more weeks, and every time I walk by the cage (it's all set up, starting to put perches and toys in too!) I get nervous that it won't be big enough. I think I just keep thinking he's going to be a lot bigger than he will be. I was also thinking that it's a fine size because he will spend most of the time outside of it anyway. Either way, I'm glad to see a grey with this cage too:) and they're both beautiful !!

Well, it's actually interesting. First I bought a brown cage when I got my female CAG. For some reason she didn't feel comfi in it, and was sitting at the bottom all day long. So I bought another slightly bigger cage, where she' lives now and feels great.
This week I brought male CAG and put him inside the old cage, even though he is bigger bird than a female he looks pretty happy inside the smaller cage. So, go figure:)

Do you think you could post some pictures of the cages set up? I'm curious where to put perches and toys in because everywhere I put one, I feel like it's either too high up or not in a good position. I don't know, I just need some ideas lol !

In general, I have to say, that I tried and still try various variations. I got rid of the manufacture perches. Usually I put new perch and wait to see how my CAG feels about it. Does she like to sit on it, can she poop from there inside her food bowel, is it too high/to low.

In bigger cage we have rope perch, green perch for nail trimming (her favorite and a spiral, which she loves very much.

This is a smaller cage, and I am still not happy with perches here. He doesn't use the lower one. I'll have to change it.

When do you bring your bird home?
