Hi,
I'm new to cockatiels.
I just got a cockatiel about a week ago. Supposedly it is around 3 months.
I was told it was not handfed or tame so in the beginning he/she was biting at me and hissing when I came close. A couple of days ago I finally got it on my finger and realized it is not really aggressive at all. I rewarded it with some petting and some millet. Now it's very much attached to me and happy to see me. It's also making this noise that I'm not familiar with. It was just making the occasional chirp but now it's got it's mouth closed but is somehow making a crying chittering noise. It now does this whenever I come inside the cage to pet it or give it millet. What is this noise?
Also, what kind of cockatiel is this? Is this this a pearl? When will I know if it's a male or a female?
Thanks in advance! :)

i dont own a cockatiel but i am pretty sure it is just happy to see you. my olvebird makes sounds with his beak closed too. it is just a sound he/she makes :)

I don't have a cocktail either sorry I can't help. But he/she is a real cutie. Congrats on making progress so quickly.

I believe it is a pearl, and you probably won't know its gender for sure until it molts. Not sure about the sound, mine hasn't made much noise since I got her so I have nothing to compare it to.
Sorry I'm not much help, I'm new to cockatiels as well. More experienced people should be here soon.
Your cockatiel is beautiful, by the way.

Those are normal happy sounds. Cockatiels are wonderful, you have a great friend there! Beautiful!
