Recently got two birds. One is green cheek conure, about 6 months old. Very friendly, sweet and active, not to mention noisy.

Also have another bird. Not sure what kind of bird, was told it is an olive ringneck. Bought her from a local petshop, she is extremely afraid of people. We continue to try to earn her trust, looks like it will be a challenge.

Is the yellow bird an olive ringneck?

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your new additions! I agree with WesselG, that is a ringneck, but it's not olive. There are so many ringneck color variations, but I *think* your baby may be a "white ringneck" https://www.google.com/search?q=whi...a=X&ei=PeWAU9DLJoSEogSA44K4AQ&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ

Very pretty bird though. They are known for being more of "aviary" birds (i.e. skittish) but plenty of people have worked with their IRNS to make the excellent pets:) You'll probably just have a bit more work to get there than some of the more "friendly" species (like your conure).

IRN's are a bit more skittish but they can definitely bond with someone.

My first IRN that I've had for about the last 6 years is bonded to me and will climb up the cage to my eye-level for a chat after they got their food and water changed, but she will also lunges out at any bodypart that she deems an intruder or threat to her personal space. Most of the lunges are usually aimed to the side of the offending bodypart or the touch with her beak is just hard enough to let me know that I'm in her space and she doesn't like it.

Of my other 4 IRN's two would accept treats from my hand but the other two is still a work in progress in that department. I suspect I would have have the same close bond with them as the one I have with my first bird.

All that just shows you that there can be a lot of personality differences between birds that share the same cage/environment.

She is definitely aviary, took a while but now she is cool with me cleaning out her cage. She seems to like our oldest son more then the rest of us. At times she will get really close to his shoulder, as if to step up, but not quite there yet. She also likes to scare the bejeebers out of us if our back is turned, and flight right at us.

Here is a pic of our green cheek.
