Hello and welcome.. I'm no help to you as far as a b&g.. i have a scarlet.. each bird is different. But in my experience, if you can make friends with them, all macaws are excellent pets :) congrats on the bird :)

WOW - good looking B&G :) You are pretty brave to have him on your shoulder. I don't allow my Niko up on there simply because I cherish my ears (and earrings). ;)

His feathers look ok in the picture. It's normal for them to lose a few feathers here and there, and when they go through a moult, you can expect to see quite a few more. :D

Lovely bird!! Thanks for the picture.

Great isn't he and he doesn't seem to nip me attall really he's very calm around me he can be a bit of a nuesance with other family members but never viscous i am still very wary of him though cos I know what damage that beak could do thanks for the reply and expect more pictures :D

You seem SO very genuinely happy with him, which is absolutely AWESOME!!!! That positivity WILL rub off on your new baby, I promise. :D

You should check out trick training with a clicker, it's a incredible bonding experience for you and your macaw. Start out with touch/target training.

Our B&G, MAC, will be 3 in February.

It is a continual learning process. It is definitely like dealing with a young child, except the Macaw can inflict serious damage!! <GRIN!!>

There are a lot of very knowledgeable folks on this forum and I'm sure they will chime in.

Welcome!!!!!:D

A few pictures of MAC & his Domain!!
