So my parrotlet babies are starting the weaning process. Yes, already. I know pictures are due, I will hopefully get some up later today, but I've been busy. Many mouths to feed, you understand. Well, they now always have dry pellet available for them to play with, I mean munch on. However, when I give them their chop, I also give them some softened pellets. Instead of using just plain water or juice, I use a little bit of baby food. I figure it introduces them to even more different flavors, plus then I can use a veggie instead of fruit juice.

Well, there is a lot more than the little teaspoon of baby food that I mix in with their pellets in a container, and I don't want to waste it, so I thought I would treat it to the big birds and mix it in with their chop. It was sweet potato, which they all like, and it would make their chop all mushy and half chewed feeling, which ekkies love anyway, so I thought they would enjoy it. I was right. They all loved it, even my parrotlet breeders. I've never seen bowls so clean. Even Tiki practically licked his bowl clean, and I have never seen that before.

But then there was the aftermath. It was someone detonated a bomb filled with wet cement in my bird room and then let it dry. I spent over an hour on my hands and knees with a bench scraper and a rag, scrape, scrub, scrape, scrub, scrape, scrub... I always joked that you could use dried mango as mortar to build a wall. Scratch that, use baby food. The birds loved it, but there needs to be some compromise between the bird overlords and us humble human slaves, and it was just too much, the slaves are revolting.

I will just throw the rest of the container away from now on. Or I'll eat it myself from now on. Anything is better than giving it to the living catapults.
