Peanut is my rescue macaw. We rescued him from a terrible situation this time last year. This time last year I couldn't get close to his cage without him thrashing it. And now he's cuddle bug. I'm so blessed to have him.

Those with rescued. Please stay strong and consistent. These birds have most likely been hurt and just need time to heal.

Beautiful!
Congratulations!

He's so beautiful! And you're right about the rescue birds, great message

Oh wow Stephen..all of you have come a long way. I'm proud of you! Sissy will let me put my arm around her and put her under the blanket with me. We lay together every morning, sometimes she already on my pillow saying " come on" happy holidays to you and your family!!!

And, people ask me why we only rehome the most unwanted of the Amazons! Your Picture is worth a thousand words of why!

Thank-you!

Merry Green Christmas from the Great White North!

Steven,

You give me hope. When our rescue macaw is being snippy, defensive, hormonal, aggressive and uncooperative I start to think we made a mistake, we will never be able to handle this bird and cuddle him without him getting wiggy. But it's only been a couple of months, even though it seems like forever. One day maybe ...

Still way too early! Most of our Amazons do not begin getting sweet until near 30 months into our new relationship! Love is never more deeply felt than from a rescued Parrot!

So true! As I have said a number of times, the rescues are equal to having PTSD. They need time to figure out, they're not still in a war zone.

But on the other side of that, you get the most amazing bond to a rescue. I still believe that the bond from a rescue is stronger, than that of a "regular" bird. They know they can trust YOU and will always look to you for guidance. A baby will not have the same need for you to hold it's "hand". Don't get me wrong, having a baby is great, but the bond, once established, to a rescue is just stronger and to me more gratifying :smile015:

That's photo is beautiful - YAY to all us rescue parronts [emoji3]

One picture is worth a thousand words Stephen. It also shows your ability on what can be done with these wonderful creatures.

Well done!

Jim

Heartwarming pic, Stephen! Peanut is so obviously blissfully content. Great message, too. Patience and consistency will yield miracles.
