I have 2 male budgies.
Hello,
i am new in forum.i have two male budgies.one of them is 4 months old(i bought him when he was 2 months old)and other one is 6 months old probably(i bought him when he was 5 months old).i have some questions about their diet.
thats how they told me to feed them in here.i mean petshop where i got

them.

monday-pure water

tuesday-pure water-vegetable

wednesday-a mixed vitamin supplement for water(no vitamin B in it)

thursday-pure water-vegetable

friday-a vitamin supplement for water(just vitamin B)

saturday-pure water

sunday-pure water-premade egg food for birds with some fruits in it

once a week i give them half millet spray.i dont give fruits because they dont eat.they like to eat vegetables like lettuce and rocket most.i have some problem with my older budgie.he has constipation if i dont give him one drop olive oil and some vegetable everyday.the problem is petshop told me if i give them vegetables everyday they will have diarrhea.is it true i shouldnt give them vegetables everyday?is there better diet for them?i never tried pellets.they arent common in here for budgies so i dont know if i can find it.i am using this food for them;
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vitakraft-Budgie-Food-500-Pack/dp/B005HP4UJA
they are free 6 hours a day i believe and i put them another room to sleep at 22 pm.they are both tamed.younger one like humans more and very friendly.older one will step up if you want him but he usually likes to play on his own with toys instead of humans.they have so many toys outside of cage usually they are playing with them and fly around whenever they want.

the petshop has told you some very... unique, nonsense. They're making you starve them for 4 days a week and selling you vitamins for them to get some $$$ in their pocket. Birds need to eat every single day to stay healthy.

You should be feeding veg and a good set of pellets daily. everyone is different but I opt for main meals of fruit/veg and then having a bowl of pellets each day for them to snack on when they want. you can also hide some seed in spots in the cage for them to find to encourage searching around for food like they would in the wild. Vitamins aren't necessary at all, all the vitamins and minerals should be in their food and being mixed in the water is more likely to make them sick with an infection. Never mix anything into the water like medicines or vitamins or supplements, the dose will never be correct as the dosage dilutes in the water and turns the water into a breeding ground for bacteria which you don't want.

In regards to sleeping at 10PM what time are they up in the morning? They should get between 10 to 14 hours sleep a day, they can start becoming very bratty if they're kept tired constantly.

In regards to the food you linked, those are seeds (good as a little treat for them but not that healthy for them) try these instead, some of the best pellets you can get https://www.amazon.co.uk/Harrison`s...qid=1543507351&sr=1-1&keywords=budgie+pellets

I agree with what M'Lord said! Birds NEED to eat every day!! Don't YOU need to eat every day?? A good diet of a good brand of pellets, and some veggies and fruits. A LITTLE bit of seed. Millet is good for a treat, but not every day. Your budgies are still young. You need to encourage them to try new foods. When you feed them, let them watch you as you pretend to eat in front of them. Get real excited when you eat. Tell them YUMMM this is good!
let them see that you are really enjoying eating, they'll eventually get the idea and want to eat what you are eating! :D Don't give up! They will come around! And a mineral block or cuttle bone is good too for nutrients and it helps with keeping their beaks trim.

This pet store told you some absolutely TERRIBLE advice... birds NEED TO EAT! YOU CANNOT STARVE THEM LIKE THIS!! Birds actually cannot survive long without food; they have very high metabolisms, especially small birds like budgies. I don’t know how your birds are not dangerously underweight right now. I don’t care what the pet store said, you’re depriving these poor birds of food and YOU NEED TO FEED THEM DAILY!!

Vitamin supplements in the water really aren’t good for birds and certainly aren’t necessary if they’re eating pellets with a variety of fresh veggies. Seeds aren’t the healthiest either, best used as treats for taming/training and not part of their regular diet. I suggest you keep a bowl of good quality pellets in the cage throughout the day, in addition to giving them chop daily which consists of a mix of finely chopped vegetables and whole grains.

Vegetables are good! Just make sure you give safe vegetables daily (some are un-safe)...Make sure you don't give too much citrus or vitamin C either...
Daily veg= healthy...
Avoid ice-burg lettuce etc, as it is low in nutrient value but high in fiber...this can cause them to eat too little.
