Hey everyone, today I weighed my birds.
For those who don’t know, I have a cockatiel, and two show/English budgies.
From my research cockatiels usually weigh between 80g and 125g, Berry sits nicely in the middle. When I got her at 4 months, she was 78g, so it’s nice to see how much she has grown since October of 2017.
Opal weighs less than Pearl. This does not concern me, as I have had show budgies ranging in weight from 40g to 60+g, and research online corroborates this. They are not related, so it may be a genetic predisposition.
I’ve also noticed that show budgies continue to grow until they are about 2 years old. My oldest show budgies, brothers Mango and Kiwi, weigh in the 60g bracket. They’re huge haha, but it took a long time for them to grow. They are both 3 years old now.
So yeah, Opal is 48g, Pearl is 56g.
Just felt like sharing, because I love to keep track of their weights haha
