I would be a terrible DJ. I would only play music I liked. I'd probably get a lot of complaints. For country I can't pick a favorite there are too many. Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, David Allan Coe. I could go on forever. I can't stand the Dixie Chicks, Lady Antabellum or Sugar Land. Just too pop for me. I also love old rap like Tupac, Dr. Dre, etc. Now I am showing my age. LOL!!

Peter Paul and Mary make me cry, I love them- so good, total pros.

Stevie Ray Vaughn and Pink Floyd come to mind first :D My wife can tell you how much I absolutely love my music.

This sits behind my desk chair as well :)

Looks like you got a great collection WharfRat! I will say some of them I haven't heard of. I love the 80's-90's hair bands. I rock out to Sublime pretty often. There is so much music I like it would so hard to name it all.

in no necessary order (dates are very approximate due to memory issues)

Foghat (first concert, '76 I think)

Journey, wheel in the sky tour

Moody Blues, SWEET

Crosby, Stills & Nash, best acoustics I've ever heard live, they started with an acoustic set & the 2nd half was all elec. Steven Stills was doing an acoustic solo & the other band members had the entire crowd in their seats & completely quiet, it was AWESOME

Pink Floyd, animals tour, best show ever

Santana, Europa tour, no words needed

Robin Trower, The Babies were the opening act, they did the most awesome version of "Baby you can drive my car"

Edgar Winter

Bonnie Rait

Fabulous Thunderbirds

Buddy Guy, he was good, went wireless on his guitar & was walking thru the crowd RIPPING on it

3 Dog Night, in the '80s, lead guitar player did a Buddy Guy thing as well, both went unmolested thru the crowds

America

Joe Walsh

Glenn Frey

Jeff Healy

BB King

Lnryd Skynerd , the plane crash tour (before the crash)

more to add

hey wharf, nice collection... may i ask if that tori amos set is your's lol? i listen to bowie, depeche mode, the killers, silversun pickups, my chemical romance, pink floyd, (all time fav pink band) against me!, the who, arcade fire, echo & the bunnymen, franz ferdinand, the national, and any band with jack white.

i wanted so bad to see the pink floyd show here in nyc but my hub wouldn't budge on tickets. the show didn't have dave gilmour, only roger waters and my hub hates that dude. my hub used to play all of gilmour's guitar solos all the time lol!

i get excited with a music thread. i studied music at nyu and with my music teach but i'm not in music. i could talk for hours on it about arrangements or sound effects lol. my college music class, i wrote my final paper on pink floyd's dark side of moon's use of synthetic electric sound.

I would refuse to go if Gilmore wasn't there.

Read an interview with him recently, he said he's done, something like what else could I accomplish?

SRV is beyond words, but HOW do you top the guitar solo in Comfortably Numb?!?!?!

If you haven't seen/listened to "Live in Gdansk" you gotta get it, Gilmore is amazing

we have the blu-ray for that show! my hub used play that solo all day with my dog hanging out by the amp. i think she really likes live music. i introduced that tune to him and that became his favorite. i can't play any instrument more than 5 mins because my ligaments and tendons are damaged... end of music career.

i wish i could see gilmour perform in my lifetime. he did do Live 8, maybe he will do something in the US one day. :jumping40

:D

Ha no seriously I like alot of music. Back in '76? '78? One of those years my brother (RIP) headed to Germany to do his tour for 18 mos or however long it was. He told me to take care of his album collection while he was gone. Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Bad Company..so I can "blame" him for my love of "classic" rock. I like anything that moves me and definately love something with a beat so I'm not ashamed to say there's even some disco that I don't mind listening to. Way back when I had the good job I started getting the Time-Life cds. I have all the 50's, the 60's, 70's and started getting some of the 80's. I also love Irish Drinking Songs and have a good number of Chieftains cds.(the latter two Tico goes absolutely nuts over.)

i can't stand not listening to music. i used to strictly like only metal and rock, but now
i listen to pretty much anything that sounds appealing to me.

...to name a few of the popular ones!

I do like most kinds of of music though, enough to buy myself a very expensive pair of headphones - Sennheiser HD-800s.
But Birdy didn't appreciate them, and chewed a nice big hole in the cable!

I haven't seen Queen mentioned. Hope I am not the only one who loves Queen. That video of the parrot singing Bodies is awesome. I saw it a while back and posted it on my fb. I'm glad there is finally a bird singing a cool song. Nothing personal anyone but my birds will not sing Ol McDonald or any Nursery rhymes.
