Well, my first comment in this thread sure went sideways!
I was originally go to discuss labels/labeling and as I was gathering thoughts throughout the thread and the developing play on words, my original focus changed! And apparently, I discovered an extremely offensive label!
Labels are name tags we either hang on our selves, or allow others to define us! Why is this bad? If thatβs all you want to be, then for you it isnβt bad! It gives you a safe place to hide!
βOh, Iβm old so I donβt have to work hard!β
βOh, Iβm antisocial, so itβs OK for me to be a jerk!β
We can redefine each and every day! As long as you are willing to refuse to put on the suit you were told to wear!
Another way to look at it is roll playing instead of labeling- just as bad!
βOh Iβm a minority, and everyone owes me a living!β Bullcrap!
My great grandmother was an American Indian slave! Sold into my family line! Oh poor me!
Redefining oneβs self is another way of saying, βpulling yourself up by your bootstrapsβ!
No one can do that for you/me! BUT-BUT-BUT! So called self help come from being open to the thoughts of others! Be it professional, or that silly jingle on the radio!
As far as being judgmental? Apparently, I will need to start a separate thread where Flat-earthers feel safe!
